This programe should be shown nationally, as all football fans would have an interest in this. Theres the Ipswich fans who have been paying peanuts to the council for Portman Road, but now the council want a 'real rent'. There's the Coventry fans who have been shafted by their council with the deal they have for the Rocoh Arena, Doncaster paying next to nothing for a council owned stadium.

But the real underlying issues is all about Harvey/Bates trying to line their own pockets with council cash. They were offered a fantastic deal by the council, which would have secured the future of ER as the council buys it and leases it back to the club for 125-years at £1.25m per year, but they knocked it back because they wouldn't make the level of profits they wanted. The council even told them that the future of the club and football in Leeds was the aim of the deal, not shareholder profits.

So Jacob Alder and Teak are in it again and that may point to ER already being part of an offshore company which Bates is involved in. If it comes out that bates is indeed involved then he will be doing a lot of time for fraud

Doesn't make for pretty reading the parts about there no being a club etc.

There is clearly no regared for the club or the fans, they just threaten to end the club's existence to try and get people like the council to give them what they want.

What the saddest thing is, there are actually some fans who still back bates.

Obviously not real fans of the club

You can't say that LIW.

Some fans are just different. They wont believe stuff unless its proven and proven and proven and in front of them. Some people believe conspiracy theories others don't.

There will always be some who just want to get on with the football side of it and leave the moaning and the discussions about the business to other fans.

Thats just life.

I can say it and ive said it

Anyone who backs bates hasnt the best interest of the club at heart and therefore not a fan

Mainly them who barely go

Sorry but this hasn't changed anything. If you were the owner/chairman wouldn't you make the same kind of approaches. The council seem to be assisting the same people now so obviously didn't burn their bridges. People will always have disagreements in business but doesn't stop them doing deals in the future. The council are providing £500k and willing to sell land to the club now.
And LIW I'm a real fan. What's your excuse for having tunnel vision.

Your missing the point, its te way the club does it, and no surprise it gets turned down

And the 500k is for traffic adjustments so not providing leeds with anything

The letters themselves.

Usual tactics of the people who run our club - to try and get everyone else to fund them.

Bates, sorry, FSF, wanted everryone else to fund ER buyback except himself (sorry, themselves).

posted on 10/10/11

LIW, I agree but they could make the club pay this. I also understand they have agreed to sell some of their land to the club in the future.
I'm not saying they went about this the right way, but if you were in charge wouldn't you look at all the options. Haven't lots of local authorities invested in grounds for clubs? Even ER was bought by the council in the 80's and they made money from it.

Yes I would go to the council

But I wouldnt be s l a g ging them off in public

In the end the club has failed in all negotiations with te council

And a big reason is Harvey and bates can't be trusted

LIW.. your statement is somewhat sweeping..

yes for a Leeds fan alone it looks bad, we all pay high prices etc.. I take my 4 sons to 90 % of the home games, and it is rather pricey.. to be fair we can afford it !!

however one of the rules of my business is try and think as others think around you.. now, Mr Bates is a business man, if you were in his shoes it makes sense to profiteer, (for business only, forget the football) i.e charge high prices, spend money on the ground, rather than a squad which in business terms players are just a disposable asset,

I am not a Bates fan, because I support Leeds United football club, and yes I agree as far as football goes we seem to get a butt end.. however Bates is trying to build the business that is Leeds United.. revenues, longer term plans etc..

I try and step back from this Bates thing.. I always try and think.. if I bought a small club, say chesterfield... what would I do, how would I expand for the future.. for my childrens future..

before you brand everybody who doesn't hate Bates with your passion, as bad fans, not proper fans try and take a bigger picture view in to consideration.

So the long term plan is destroying the fan base, the man u game proved that

Hes not interested in leeds united, just the ego and money side

This is one statement you have obviously got wrong otherwise they redevelopment we have now would not be happening. Also the wouldn't agree to sell land to the club or assist with anything such as moving lowfields road.

posted on 10/10/11

One thing about all this is Harvey has a lot of knowledge in everything Leeds United having been CEO even prior to Bates!

posted on 10/10/11

" As you know, we will continue to explore ways in which we can help, but any assistance offered will be about preserving top class football in the City rather than being for the benefit of the shareholders."

The Council wantéd Leeds to continue, whereas Bates/Harvey wanted Shareholder profits. Says everything really.

posted on 10/10/11

There is no genuine reason why the planning department would say no to the development

Moving lowfields was always on the agenda and more to doing with moving the m621

And they agreed to sell the land because its the obvious thing to do

posted on 10/10/11

Am not doubting you, but when did te council agree to sell some land to leeds

posted on 10/10/11

LIW so you agree they haven't held a grudge

Bestfans if you were the owner what would your aim be, lose as much as possible?

posted on 10/10/11

LIW, it's in one of the documents outlining the full plans for the land around ER. This details the land they own and have sold for the Police HQ etc. I could try to find it on the LCC website?

posted on 10/10/11

LIW.. agreed mate, but that's business... we are not in business to be liked signore - the fan base is there, and always will be mate, Bates knows that, that's why he can get away with his tactics... one Man utd game doesn't prove we are losing any fan base, it's just currently poeple can't afford it - not like me and you signore LIW..

I don't like the drunks who get thrown out of my brothers clubs, or the idiots kicking off in my casino's because we took all their money... don't play, don't lose... don't drink, you won't have a hang over si?? - but our business's need them... like Bates needs us the fans essentially... he knows we'll keep coming back and paying... just like the drunks and the gamblers....

also... as for your statement "not proper fans etc" - it seems 'little boy ish' a little spoilt brat ish
