Good.
I've always maintained that i find it wrong that a club is held accountable for the actions of people. People do these things and they need to hang the basturds as far as im concerned.
But the level of trauma the victims endured is difficult to put a "price" on. Anything that helps along with the club stumping up for therapy if they need it.
Good news for all those affected by this.

It will barely dent the biscuit tin. Most time will be spent agreeing the public statements and almost certainly will tread a fine line of no 'full' admission of liability.

The number will be a guess same as has been on here because the compo is pretty clearly set out. Would not be surprised if the legal costs were more than the compo.

A good day for the victims in a shameful situation that should have been resolved years ago. Hopefully this gives them some peace and the justice they deserve.
Who gives a schit what it does to the biscuit tin.
Not before time and good on Celtic for taking responsibility in the end. Paying them out is the right thing to do.
Hopefully the statement that comes with it shows a bit of class. Would be a kick in the baws for them if Celtic try to hold onto the line of separate entity.
An end to a sorry saga on the horizon at least.

News is almost no longer about buying a newspaper but generating clicks on a link for advertising purposes.
The dregs of society hang on to the most awful stories just to point score and the media play up to it.
I blame everyone that works in media and newspaper industries. Everyone. No exceptions. Everyone including JA'ers

Hopefully it is a sorry end to the saga. There is no one at Celtic that were at the club when it all happened yet people like you like to point the finger as some form of point scoring. You don't actually care about the victims so long as you can say something about Celtic.
The victims deserve to be compensated. I could never put a figure on what compensates such atrocious things happening to them. Celtic as a club have thankfully stepped up to the plate and not pointed the victims lawyers at the boys club. Separate entity or not Celtic were happy to use that boys club as a youth set up so should accept a level of responsibility of care to the boys.
What frightens me is that boys club just changed it's name and continues on completely removed of any implications.
I hope the victims find some peace in life when it is all settled in court. I don't think I could.

Interesting take from my comment so i'll reiterate.
Celtic doing the right thing in the end, they need to do that with the statement that will bring an end to it as well.
Surprised that was contentious when my aim was the exact opposite.
I doubt the money involved will be particularly life changing for the victims, but if it gets them some closure then that’s something.
Said for a while that this should have been dealt with ages ago and was never comfortable with trying to deflect away by saying the boys club were nothing to do with us. I get that’s a legal v moral argument, but just how I feel.
It won’t be the end of it, but at least there’ll have been some progress.
If this is the outcome that at least brings closure to the victims then that's something at least.
Should there be punishment for Celtic? I don't know probably for someone else to answer.
If something like this (same scale and errors made) came out about an organisation like the scouts/ BB etc I'm not sure they would continue to exist.
You can never 100% stop this happening once but you can reduce the chance and stop it happening again and What I would say is that Celtic today this would be the case. I've been involved in writing and delivering safeguarding training and policies in Scottish sport and know that we are in a much better place now.
As for the source which seems a minor point all the links I saw for it were from the times but that's behind a paywall so explains why other sources came up first. Interestingly follow follow wasn't one that game up for me but then I don't visit the site.
I am surprised that a full public inquiry into child abuse in Scottish football doesn't even seem to be on the table. If something did happen again could we honestly say we fully investigated to ensure no repeat? I don't think we could and that's a key aspect of safeguarding.
Possibly not even Scottish sport as there have been other instances linked to youth organisations and church organisations. For some reason to in Scotland we don't seem to fully want to dig in.
I don't want to go all line of duty conspiracy not but it does worry me that we aren't doing all we can to investigate as that's how you learn and prevent.
Anyway that's my stance on it and I guess more will unfold over the coming weeks. Will be an emotive and painful time for the victims and their families. Please also remember abuse victims and survivors of other cases will also likely be effected by this and have strong opinions.
I would ask people to remember that before chucking around the you just want to point score about Celtic accusation. They may well do, and they may well have good reason.
If you can't respect that opinion then you shouldn't be in the debate either.

I've called out the guilty Celtic fans many times on here. They have weaponised the CA at Ibrox and its a disgrace.
As for being part of the debate, that depends what the debate is.
I'm all for a legitimate debate on the issue and I've said many times on here that I believe that Stein and the Celtic directors at the time were probably aware of what was going on. So I'm not whitewashing anything.
But criticising people who've become obsessed with trying to destroy Celtic because they believe Celtic screwed them over in 2012 is perfectly legitimate. They have no interest in justice or truth purely in destroying an institution that they hate for entirely different reasons.
I have no idea what they'll do with their time now apart from keeping writing to the police and judges in New Jersey.
