Why are you posting about Liverpool on a UTD thread?

That’s most of the Glazer germ erased from the club

---------------------------------------------------------------

We don't have any evidence that Murtough was good at his job, but we do know that he had little power under the Woodward years, and that the Glazers insisted on signing off on transfers, often dithering before coming to a conclusion, which frequently prevented us from acting in an agile way in the market. We also know that he made attempts to modernise the structure when given more autonomy a couple of years ago, and we're not in a position to judge whether these efforts were largely in the right direction, whether they were also subject to constraints and compromises as a result of the ownership, nor even what the long-term impact would have been. But I do recall how people on this website spoke similarly about, for instance, Solskjaer's coaching staff because bad football = everyone is bad at their jobs, right? Yet we see that when you put people in a structure that's conducive to success, the likes of McKenna and Carrick turn out to have a bit of talent.

Given the amount of talent and experience coming into the organisation under INEOS and the desire to drive fresh thinking, it obviously makes sense to part ways with Murtough. But he seems to have been a decent man, who by accounts was actively supportive toward the new leadership who he must have known would at best demote him. So I'd hesitate to apply to him the kind of language that Trump uses about non-white migrants, and the most genocidal elements within the Israeli government use about Palestinians.

I won't be taking his job. After some consideration I turned it down because I am too busy with other commitments.

Championship Wilcox? You do realise he was at Man City only 11 months ago? 🙃

Of course you didn't. You're a numbskull.

He's not their manager mate. You are aware right?

Also they are every much in the playoff picture so could be promoted anyway.

You really are thick as mince aren't you? 😂

Was stealing a living. Good riddance.

A new dawn truly beckons. Hopefully exciting times ahead with the restructure and a professional and outward looking setup. Should finally mean a blueprint to long term success is outlined and recruitment is in accordance with the long term plans with the coach (whether ETH or otherwise) tasked to just coach.

Let him be, he's harmless. Just wants to mingle with people who will be tasting success in the near future whilst his club, post Klopp, disappear into obscurity! 😁

Owners of any club would have input on a major transfer. What evidence do we have that they dragged their heels?

Lots of rigorous and very detailed reporting documents the extreme dysfunction caused by excessive involvement of non-sporting executives. This has in particular revealed the way big decisions couldn't be made without Joel Glazer signing off, despite the fact that he wasn't involved in the granular commercial or sporting analysis, and how the club was often left waiting days for decisions to be made. This is not typical of well-run clubs, RDD.

Where are these reports of excessive involvement from Glazer, taking days?

Didn't Joel Glazer twice block the sale of Martial because he was his favourite player and likened him to Pele

RDD, I've previously shared links to extremely detailed, long-form reports on our recruitment operations and wider operational structure, published by the Athletic in particular, on this forum. These were based on dozens of conversations with United insiders and agents / Directors of Football who have dealt with the club. I have no interest in debating this with someone with a long history of obtuse engagement and trolling, let alone taking the trouble to look up links for you.
