If you start off so strongly though, to ultimately end up without top 4 is disappointing when you haven't done anything in the cups.

Some fans may be pleased but if we see ourselves as a big club then it's absolutely nothing to write home about.

Yes credit to Villa they have been excellent. I hope they win the cup to go with their top 4 finish. Emery is MOTS and Watkins arguably POTS.

I guess it depends on your expectations. I thought we'd have a good chance of top 4 even with Kane gone. When we actually started the season like we did I then thought we could have an outside chance of challenging for the title.

5th place from there wouldn't be particularly great although if we get a high points tally we'll have been unlucky.

Look on the bright side. United have just lost a 3-0 lead to a Championship side. Their right back Milan van Ewijk looks like a proper player.

It's a great season unless we get battered in the remaining games.

Playing good football and coming 5th would be a huge improvement on last season.

Have to take EL seriously next season though. It's a quality tournament these days.

in the mix for top 4 always felt like a best case scenario, got a long way to go still

We should be more than capable of getting to the semis of both Ropey and FAC next year.

I think if you assume that run at that start was a bit of a fluke because teams didn’t quite understand the Ange set up, you have to probably consider our form post November as the more accurate representation of where we as as a club. If you apply the post-November form across the whole season, I think we’d be down there with Chelsea on about 47 points. It’s hard not to be disappointed given how well we started. There’s still a hell of a lot of work to do with this squad. I just hope the finances are there to do it, if you assume we don’t qualify for the CL.

There was always going to be a tough run and with the injuries we keep getting ( something needs to be done about that ) then we were never going to be up there.

"Great season" is most definitely a stretch, all things considered. I can see why people would see it as a good season though if they want to see it that way.

bit of a slanted way of looking at it given November marks the start of a period when we had Royal and Davies starting at CB for 2 months.

You go from the start of 2024 and we're at 1.75 ppg, 67 point pace.

I never expected to win it but to be involved near the end I thought might be a possibility, considering we didn't have any European football. Arsenal did that last season when they finished behind us, Chelsea did it in Conte's first season and they had finished 10th. So yeah I thought, given the way we started it could have been one of those special seasons. To be fair if the Chelsea game hadn't turned out the way it did, then who knows?

My expectations were so low after late poch, Jose, Nuno and Conte just not hating watching spurs was a huge improvement for me.

I feel Ange has given us lot to be excited about going forward.

Seems people forgot where we started from.

A fanbase that hated the owners and downbeat on the squad.

A new manager that highest experience was the Scottish league that was having to change the whole identity of the club.

A mediocre transfer window that ended losing our best ever player.

We were literally starting from scratch and done extremely well in dealing with what been thrown at us.

We were never going to consistent enough to get through a season without having blips.


Overall it’s a big step up but it’s only the first one and we need to keep on building on it.

I just really hope we get a decent number 6 mobile enough to do the mopping up but cultured enough to be good going forward. Bissouma just doesn’t do the hard yards.

I think the only player who offers both at a high level is Rodri

probably gonna have to get 2 options, one more defensive and one better on the ball. Like arsenal have with Rice and Jorginho
