Ange on #thfc sticking by their style of play: "We've had some inconsistencies this year but when we've played well we've played a certain way.

Spurs are constructed to play in a certain way. Do you think they can adjust even if he asked them to play differently?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to think so. He has at times gone 3 at the back sometimes, even if it was for the last 10 mins of a game. His subs at HT have often worked when we go a goal down. He brings on PEH sometimes to steady the ship.

But overall he doesn't change much at start of games. That's the one constant.

I assume the 3 at the back was because you were conceding a lot in the last part of games after spending so much energy pressing early. Though, bunging on an extra defender never really works. Counter-attack football is an issue for us, but it really needs commitment for the entire 90 mins and then absolute discipline at set pieces. Will be interesting if you can do that, having not really done it at any other time.

Up to about November I agree with him that the football was really good. November to January there were mitigating circumstances with the injuries.

January to now however, I have been pretty underwhelmed with our style. I expected a lot more after the injured players came back.

He has been known to change the defence in his second season at previous clubs. We were linked with another left sided defender yday from Italy.

Defending set pieces has been an issue for us this season. Romero is the only one who seems capable of winning a header when defending a free kick or corner.

It's something you should look to exploit on Sunday.

The problem is I’m not sure the players know what the style is. They’ve looked lost over the last couple of months. Biss not tracking back, inverted full backs not finding the wingers often enough and we are so slow in transition.

I’m not sure what happened to ‘we never stop’ and the early attacking football of anges reign. It was so exciting and high press. It seems to have completely gone and too many players are hiding right now.

I’m hoping to see a performance on Sunday from spurs. We all need it.

There is an element of the surprise of Spurs' tactics having gone, teams know very well how we will play and prepare for it.

SO there is a need for some adaptation and i think we have seen a little bit more defensive caution.. Even if you take the NUFC thrashing you can see their first goal is a counter attack, long ball out to Gordon, but Udogie is back with him, which in itself is not normal, normally its 2 vs 2. But Udogie was weak and didnt win a tussle with the wiry Gordon, a physical challenge he really should not be losing. We had the numbers to deal with it but didnt. 2 vs 3 and the 2 won!

Much of our dip I see as coming from less effort being applied in the press in the final third. We've lost energy there. Individual errors at the back. Less commitment overall, they look fatigued without having any reason to be.

May be it that first season change. going from passive 20mph football to aggressive 100mph with a limited squad hit by a fair few injuries. May be it just aint sustainable, may be it's fundamentally flawed long term.

But in the next game it has to be total commitment otherwise we do not stand a chance. Don't think the crowd will let them get away with anything less tbh. Just hope the likes of Romero keep their heads

I I feel this system requires the whole team to be on it.

Some levels have dipped, notably Bissouma, who was awesome in the early season, Maddison similar.

I think missing Richarlison hasnt helped. Long term i see us as stronger with this sort of forward and Son on the wing.

Its no coincidence IMO that his injury has seen our form down turn. Even while suffering from injuries/absentees in Dec/Jan/Feb, he scored 9 in 10 games and we took 20 points.

With just pace up front we have been more predictable and a bit 0ne dimensional.

If it was Ricy in the middle and Son coming on in teh back post and not Werner then some of those misses would have been goals.

To me it shows that we are still some way off having the well balanced, depth of squad needed and also that we are a very different team when we are winning. If we play well we are a real threat and teams fear us and have struggled to stop us scoring. If we are off it then we are easily got at.

To maintain those levels we need more depth, but we also need to add the ability to grind results to our armoury. I hope Ange has that in his locker because we will not always purr, so need to find other ways too.

They can give as good as they get. Calling someone out is not bullyingπŸ‘πŸ». Nice of you to join us anyway.

Take you tongue out of Sizz and Strike's 'pooper'!

It's not about giving it out ffs, why would you "give it out" to other Spurs fans. Ever since you joined the site you wanted to be a loud mouth and finally folk are getting annoyed by it. Fack off is my advice

When I see someone like Mack calling the players Khunts and then making it into some boring and repetitive ENIC bs thing, I feel the need to call it out. Why not?

And I'm questioned about my support for Spurs?

And as I said, I'm sick of hearing that type of chit from fans in the stands. Can't be bothered to call them out whilst the match is going on so this is the next best thing πŸ™‚. I don't go to matches to hear gobchites spout chit but accept it's par for the course.

Thanks for your advice but I'll be here for as long as I like.

Maybe you should try contributing more to actual football chat instead appearing like rash every now and again? That's my advice to you.

All I will say about this NLD is that we do not have Udogie because the silly buggar buggered a quad in practice! Needed surgery. That keeps him out of the Italy squad for Euros.
But we've signed him until 2030!!

Disagree with Richarlison, Gabriel and Saliba will deal with him as he's just an angry lump who falls over a lot. Better playing pacier players, hitting us on break and targeting our left side where we are weaker.

Unfortunately I can’t see anything other than an Arsenal win tomorrow. In fact I’m worried it could get ugly. They just don’t concede away from home. We concede goals for fun. Given that Ange will go with the normal high line approach I just can’t see us winning. Maybe I’m being overly pessimistic.

It’s mad that we started the season in eager anticipation of a Biss and bents partnership in midfield and now we end it hoping for hojbjerg and Sarr

It’s a real concern how bad Biss has become. He simply doesn’t seem to be able to play in this system at all. The manager will not change the system, so the board may have to change the player

Big month ahead for Biss.

I will happily continue to call out the players after a performance like Newcastle. I’ve backed it up with tactical reasons too.

Same with Enic and the board. I’ve stated my reasons for calling them out and will continue to do so.

What I won’t do is come on here like some petulant child throwing insults at any poster I disagree with just because I have a keyboard.

Happy to debate with everyone on here that disagrees with me, as long as they have a counter argument rather than just an unfunny insult.

As you were….

That would be my pick. But I suspect Bissouma will start, with maybe Davies at LB and Kulu at RW with Johnston on the left.
