It's the Glazers' fault for selling to them. #blametheglazers
Even with the signing of Dan Ashworth, on paper it's a good move and for once Utd aren't just paying over the odds at the first ask. But have they gone too far the other and insulted Newcastle instead? Will this way of doing business just lead to other clubs not wanting to do business with them?
--------------------
I think Newcastle have come out of this debacle looking a bit worse tbh. Discussions with City re Berrada were reportedly pretty straightforward. Not sure about Wilcox/Southampton but there didn't seem to be too many hiccups.
It's so far so good I think. I don't expect us to improve overnight, but we'll see in a couple of years.

Cutting employee perks ffs
Once again I think the simpletons are missing the point. This isn't just about cutting down costs as as someone above has pointed out that it isn't a huge saving in the grand scheme of things. It's about sending a message to the employees that the free rides are over. Disneyland as Woodward once described it is now closed.

£35m spent on agents last summer.
It's fiddling while Rome burns.
I dont know much about Sir Jim, but if he is a self made billionaire then these sorts can be some of the tightest people out there.
I had a client about 10 years ago, involved in selling selling his property portfolio. Went up to London, stayed over night in a hotel, big meeting the next deal, negotiated a great deal for huge sums, sat in the cab with the client heading back to St Pancras and he's looking at his hotel bill and excitedly claims "ha! they didnt charge me for my newspaper". The guy had basically saved £1 have just made football transfer sized sums, but was delighted. Always queried his invoices, so we always added a bit knowing he'd knock off a bit.
I bet Sir Jim brings a packed lunch to work, made up of last nights leftovers, walks into work and goes round turning all the thermostats down.

You're really outraged about something that hasn't happened yet, aren't you? Is it not implausible that United will not ask for any public money for the stadium itself, but try to attract public investment in the wider regeneration project, which itself provides infrastructure and economic conditions that help the club to raise the private lending it needs at a more favourable rate? And if so, do you still think that's an outrage?
Baz gets outraged when we spend more than a tenner in the transfer market tbf.
As to the OP, as Baz said at the top, it depends on the question. If we're judging them on the success of the sporting operations of the FC, being mean to the staff isn't very relevant. If we're judging them ethically, it is.
I also think the track record of INEOS is of limited relevance to how they might perform as owners of United. Ultimately, they will be appointing experienced figures from the football industry to make decisions and to be responsible for running high performance departments. INEOS executives won't be doing that. I'd say it's a positive overall that Ratcliffe views sporting achievement important to the business (a low bar set by the Glazers), that he has experience in sports investment, unlike many rich people taking an interest in the PL, and that he has people around him who have hands on experience of innovation and culture in elite sports. As long as this is channelled into setting the right framework for the professionals they hire, and asking them the right questions when holding them to account, it's all to the good. If they try micromanaging based on their experience with Nice, then we're in for trouble.

Well thought out answer. Personally I'm intrigued to see how it all unfolds but I'm not as worried as I was when I first heard the news. At first I figured it'd only be a matter of time before you were back at the top table as all the resources are already there, it would just take time. There's more variables than I thought though and now I'm more curious than worried.
