Ducker yet another journalist talking out of his hole.
Contradicts himself massively by saying it’s a sell to buy policy but then mentions Varane, Martial and Williams leaving for free will allow significant investment in new players.
Also says that we’re hamstrung by PSR because of our transfer spend over the last three summers, when the first of those three summers won’t be taken in to account for the latest PSR calculations.
I wouldn’t listen to anything that City mouthpiece has to say. Actual financial experts have said United will have plenty to spend this summer, and INEOS have cleared two thirds of our revolving credit facility.
Actually £120m paid off of £260m owing, but still leaves us with £160m to spend on it. Rag journalists conveniently forget this.

People saying get rid of rashford is madness.
He's better than every single player we have when he gives a feck. (Which to be fair isn't often at the moment)
I think this manager has just sucked the life out of many players, him included.

Nonsense.
How many managers is that now who have 'sucked the life' out of Rashford?
I wouldn't actively look to sell him. But we'd be insane to turn down a substantial offer. I'm talking 70m+ though, which we won't get.
Spare a thought for DVdB, we’ve been pimping him around for ages now and no one wants to actually buy him

The majority of said managers are has-beens or not good enough and rashfords still been one of the best players throughout our bad period despite his faults.
Im of the same viewpoint, looking to actively sell him is ridiculous, but don't tell down a big offer.
Auba was easily Arsenal’s best player for years but was moved on because he was reflective of the poor attitude and laziness that had infected Arsenal Football Club. This is a similar theme with Rashford, aside from being easily our best player.

And fwiw, I think the bigger concern for Martinez is us hiring a manager who isn't comfortable with a 5ft9 centre back, which I think is quite possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If that does happen he could be used at left back as well. I believe Arsenal wanted him for this reason. I wouldn’t be against this if we could get two cbs that can play regularly at the top level.

He was 32 when they got rid of him, Rashy is 26 but I see your point. It would still be stupid to actively try and sell him though as many on here appear to be suggesting.
Feels like Rashford needs a change tbh, he's clearly a good player but this environment doesn't seem healthy for him and I don't see that changing unless he moves on.
And Rashford’s playing like he’s 36. But the main point is about him being indicative of the poor, lazy attitude of the club. It wouldn’t be stupid to actively sell him if we want to rid ourselves of that. It obviously relies on the recruitment team being able adequately recruit the right players to change this, but I’d rather see them try and do this than hope Rashford’s just going to become a completely different player.

He's playing like a Ronaldo, where you'd try and accommodate him cos his output is so good. But his output isn't very good, it's weird.

If you're going to put this his struggles this season on ETH though, you have to put last season's achievements on him too.
I don't think either are massively down to ETH btw - he's just a massively inconsistent player.

Yeah, possibly. Again depends on the coach though - I don't think its inconceivable that Martinez finds himself in a position where he's surplus to requirements. Which would be a shame.
Does fack all else apart from score and when he doesn’t score is like playing with ten men?
Yeah basically, it's all the negatives of having a player like that in your team but without any of the positives. Not compared him to Ronaldo in any other sense than he offers little off the ball, a bit like a 36 year old Ronaldo.

Needs to be some realism. We can probably bring in 3 or 4 players a season, and of course they won't all work out. We may not got many takers for some of our players, so we either take a big loss on them or they stay until contract expires.
Assuming a new manager comes in, he is going to have to work with most of the current squad, so he needs a pragmatic approach of trying to make us tighter defensively and more clinical up front. Simple job really
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Arsenal and Villa provide a good model here. Once you have clarity of what you want from players you recruit (a certain level of technical security, a certain athletic level, the right profile for the role they will be used in), then you can start to build a team that's more than the sum of its parts. Those clubs have unearthed some gems, and Arsenal have spent some serious money. But not every player in Arteta's squad is elite level. We can vastly improve if we recruit coherently, and I think if we are capable of thinking clearly, we should sell and buy as many players as possible as quickly as possible. We won't turn into a great side overnight - but that's not happening with three expensive signings each summer either.
