We all better get ready to have our pensions and savings raided, council taxes etc will be going up along with other stealth taxes. I will be gobsmacked if we are not worse off under Labour.

It will be the same old Labour policies of taxing hard working people, taking their money and giving it to those who can`t be bothered to work.

Along with limitless illegal immigration being dumped upon us, and all overseen by Buffoons such as Raynor, Abbott, Corbyn, Khan, Reeves etc, and a wet wipe for a PM, the future looks increasingly bleak.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And if none of the things you say here happen, and it’s yet more lies spun by the tories, I fully expect you on here telling everybody about the b0110x you believed whilst supporting the party who were already doing those very things to you

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The tax burden is at its highest for 70 years, but obviously Billy only cares when Labour put up taxes!

And even if they do, it’s going to be inheritance tax, Capital Gains or Corporation Tax, not Income Tax or VAT.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s actually going to be council tax if anything. Corporation tax will not be going up according to Reeves whereas it’s a poorly kept secret that Labour are planning to introduce council tax reform which will see a lot of areas with increases.

I voted Labour but I’m realistic enough to know what I’m in for. They will have to increase the tax burden because any government would. Covid has wiped the finances and if we don’t get the growth Labour are hoping for then it’s coming from taxation.

I guess as stupid as believing that exchanging Labour for the Conservative is going to fix all of our problems.

Sure they won’t be as bad - I mean I don’t think anyone can be. But I think a lot of die hard lefties are in for a shock with Starmer who isn’t quite as left leaning as they really believe

They need growth to make their plans work. That growth is coming from the private sector. So they won’t be increasing corporation tax, they won’t be targeting big business (other than maybe oil and gas companies) and it’s all going to feel very New Labour.

I’m exaggerating to make a point. No one has said Labour is going to “fix all of our problems”, the point is the wild celebrations of a good section of the left is going to lead to very a muted disappointment in the next couple of years as many of them realise that aside from a couple of political gimmicks (like GB Energy) - the status quo isn’t going to change. They, like the Tories, need growth to come from the private sector, they will protect big business, increase the tax burden on working people (as every government does) and the cycle will continue

We’ve lived under successive Tory governments since 1979. This is another one - just under a different colour

I'm sorry but I think you're completely strawmanning - the greens nearly got 2 million votes because the left are so unhappy with starmer. all the celebration is coming from the centrists who are happy with more of the same if it comes with some added decorum

Corporation tax was at 28% in 2010.

It has been at its lowest rate IN ALL OF HISTORY under the Tories, ffs.

The default historically has been to match corporation tax with income tax.

It is only in recent history that that link has been broken, and we now treat both companies (in corporation tax) and wealth-hoarders (in capital gains tax) as more important than working people.

As someone who normally votes Lib Dems, I am not a labour supporter, but to write them off so quickly and say that the writing is on the wall, is like saying Southgate is going to change to an attacking formation and win the Euros and then the world cup.

No one knows what quite is gonna happen with anything at this point

I’m really not sure whether this is sad, scary or what.

I mean none of it is remotely true, at all, so where do they get it from? They then make important decisions such as voting on a complete falsehood whilst trying to pass it off as fact.

It’s precisely the reason things like Brexit should not be put out to the electorate.
