Haven’t been a fan of Southgate’s England tactics, but he’s said before he’s analysed statistics and if playing on a way to give us the best chance of winning. Im not sure that style translates to his preference at club level.

One thing we can’t argue he has done is built a squad of players who are playing for each other which we haven’t seen at Utd for too long.

Walker, Stones, Rice, Henderson, Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Kane.

If he can't win something with these elite players, then he isnt up to fixing United.

The problem is that France, Portugal etc could say similar. It's incredibly hard to win an international tournament. England have perhaps performed par with Southgate. That'd do Utd now surely!

That's not me stating I'd want him managing United but I don't think he'd be quite as terrible as what some imagine.

We lost on penalties and there’s one tournament every two years. It’s simply English arrogance.

Also, the focus shouldn't be on his ability to win things but his talents for creating a harmonious group. What he's done with England in that regard is impressive given we had maybe 25-30 years of fractious international relationships within the camp.

I think INEOS will look at him because they'll have a succession plan in place. Hire Southgate to stop the rot and foster squad harmony and then look at the next stage for a top class coach to bring them a stage further. I just don't think it's a one manager fix, unless you hire a Klopp type with the kind of personality to drag people along with him.

I’d be surprised if we go for Southgate. Ineos haven’t built up enough good will with the fans to take such a huge risk on appointing him as manager. If Ten Hag does go, I suspect we’ll go for Tuchel.

From what I’ve seen in the media it looks like Tuchel’s people are making clear he would be open to a move to us. Let’s just hope we’re smart enough to bring him in and then smart enough to get him good older players to compliment the good ones we already have.

Even these 4 signings would improve us immeasurably..

We need a lot more than four players this summer.

A lot of those players are brilliant in their respective clubs.

No other side play how City do for example, and I don't think Fodens form is necessarily created outside of Pep and City.

Maybe, but we’d be better off spreading our resources across more positions and numbers.
