While I understand you can’t see it cos you don’t have eyes…. Bamford is massive loss and I really worry about our ability without him.

Also, one of several of his faults is that he tends take a few games to get up to full speed after an injury, so even if he is fit for the final and we make it he probably won’t offer what we need.

Piroe was good against Southampton considering the service was really poor. Summerville needs to stop bringing the game to a standstill, he's at his best at full speed. Don't know how true, but apparently Summerville will not pass to Piroe.

posted on 10/5/24

Would be great if Summerville didn’t always do that same turn to the right feel like he’s getting abit predictable for some teams.

Says a lot about our club that we are upset at Bamford not playing. 4 years and we’ve not got a replacement or additional leading striker. Absolute madness. Could cost us the ultimate prize

don't blame Bamford here. I blame the
club for continually ignoring this huge issue.
——-
Yep. It’s been an issue for 5 years now, ever since Roofe left. We’ve always looked so much worse with him out the team.

Tbh Batty, and I’m not meaning this to have a go, I think you’re blinded a bit with Bamford because you’re so sick of watching his limitations that you only notice the bad things. Lots of Leeds fans like this with him, they’re bored of watching the bad finishes, the lack of dribbling ability, so don’t appreciate the hold up player, runs off the ball, link up play he offers. If he was a new signing in January, he’d be getting loads of praise for his contributions since then.

I was same with Harrison - I was happy to see him go because I was bored of watching the same play over and over, just getting the ball on the wing with a poor cross or failing to beat a man. But actually he was a very good player for us over 4 seasons, but sometimes you just want to see a different sort of player

Piroe seemed decent vs Southampton - he got poor service but the one chance he got, he put away. For me, our main two problems are slow movement (where has the quick-fire passing gone?) and reluctance to take shots from in and around the box. Summerville continuously wastes possession in his forlorn quest to get the ball on his right shooting foot while Rutter also holds onto the ball way too long. Either way, I think we need to score first for a good outcome.

Not a Bamford fan at all and I'm not blaming him, but decision to put all our eggs in his basket has cost us beifee, and now it could do again.

Spot on. We’ve been conceding early goals last few weeks and you feel if that happens again heads will drop.

Best, I think you nailed part of my problem with Bamford. He epitomizes the club's transfer failures.

I am more worried about what has happened to the most solid defence in this league, than if Bamford is playing or not, I have to say.

Farke has a job to do, and it is a big one

I will add though, he's 30+ and made of glass.
Whatever good or bad he does means nothing
if he's always crocked. Which he is.

Agree A14, and Lorimer is spot on.
We are so fragile right now and need the first goal, haven't done that since Hull at the start of April.

I'd start Joseph over piroe. Seems we're playing a man short with piroe if he doesn't score
Let's get at them with energy and pace.
We should beat these guys easily.

The patellar tendon can be very frustrating injury, I’d say his season is done. I had the same injury and it got progressively worse to the point I needed surgery.

Missed this gem from fan boy.

"While I understand you can’t see it cos you don’t have eyes…. "

^^^

This is your attempt at biting humour. I get it.
Genius. Actually, I do have eyes. We just don't
see the same thing. You think a striker doesn't
need to score goals. "He's modern."

Smart.

"Bamford is massive loss and I really worry about
our ability without him."

^^^

Sure is. And...

You do realize he's missed a huge amount of games
the last 3 seasons right? And yet, the club keeps on
keeping on, thinking everything's fine. Yes, he's
a massive loss. A loss of a number 9. Loss of effective
minutes within the team. Loss of major money week
in week out. A loss of a golden opportunity to go right
back up like Leicester have. We're the 800lb
gorilla of the Championship. Act like it.

Ipswich. Little old farmhand Ipswich lost Hirst.
What did they do? In January they brought in
Moore and Al Hamadi. Then Hirst was back.
And they rotated quality and went up.

We relied on Lincolnshire Lewandowski. The
only footballer made of fine porcelain.

The greatest ability of any player is wait for it...
availability. He's always on the fcking trainers bench.

And that's my point. Yes, I think he's over hyped and
over rated. My opinion. What's not opinion is the
fact that he misses far too many games to be useful.
The club has fcked this up over and over and over
again. They believed Orta's hype. Then, I feel, they
heard fan boys saying he was ace. Bought into it.
Foolishly.

"Also, one of several of his faults is that he tends take a few games to get up to full speed after an injury, so even if he is fit for the final and we make it he probably won’t offer what we need."

^^^

And there you have it. Excuses from the fan boys.

He gets injured because he's glass. Out weeks.
Then comes back. But his confidence is low. So,
needs more games to get up to speed. Gets up
to speed. Dazzles a game or two. Gets injured.

Rinse. Repeat.

Once again though, it's not his fault. I genuinely
mean that. He's a china doll. And that ladies and
gentlemen is the problem. The club have fcked
this up so many times. Relying on him has been
football negligence.

Result: he's not available yet again when it matters.
Our only true #9. Because the club felt that's all they
fcking needed to walk this division.

I'd prefer Joseph up top if Bamford not available.

Farke knows this is big match, so I'm sure he's trying to make best decision whomever he goes with.

Not learning from a mistake is a bigger crime than the mistake itself.

As others have said we have relied on Bamford for too long when we know he is injured more often than he is not and takes ages to get his mojo back when returning from injury.

Should have been addressed 2 seasons ago.

Nice one Batty, given you 5 stars again!

You can pay me later for these 5 star compliments!

I did a post about 2 hours ago more or less outlining my agreement with your opinions…then deleted it, too long winded!

Was at the game at Elland Rd. They did sod all first half bar nearly scoring with the final kick of the half. 2nd half they played us off the park for most of the half and we were hanging on somewhat towards the end. Sargeant is there biggest threat, he's the ginger Aaronson, with Sara who got in team of the weak, Sainz and Nunez, they do have there sharp edges. Defensively they're not great, so we can and should cause them lots of problems.

Lets not forget, we were 2 nil down at HT last time at Carrow Rd, difficult place to go with all the pressure and expectation on us

Watching the U18's yesterday we played the whole of the first half with a winger as our main striker, after City had scored we took him off and replaced him with another winger.
I know Harry Gray scores for fun and he wasn't eligible but it does appear that we have an issue in all age groups with strikers at the moment.

The U18s main strikers for that age group are both out injured. Wilson was pretty effective before his injury.
