France against that second half England side would destroy them

France don't destroy anyone. Deschamps is basically the French Southgate.

TAA looked lost. Quality player, but he isnt a midfielder

Played decent for 25-30mins. Thought we looked pretty woeful for large spells.

Not a cat in hell's chance this team is beating France Portugal or even Germany.

there's nothing special about any of those teams, so yes, there's a pretty good chance England can beat any of them.

Bit early to day this.

Southgate was very slow with changing things. TAA off was a no-brainer, but Foden should have been hooked for Gordon at the same time as Saka went off. Bellingham also should have been replaced earlier, him and Saka were clearly cooked by 60.

Before the game the German commentators/experts were saying England are one of if not the top teams in the tournament!..

Hate to think of how bad the rest are if true!..

This.

England fans need to stop being happy to take BS performances and results like that one. These days the team of players we have is FAR TOO GOOD for that performance against that opposition to be acceptable.

They're way better than the crap we just saw and England fans need to be mad they didn't perform as such. Not just be happy to "take that" because it was a win. Fans being willing to accept crap like that "cos it's a win." Are why our country's team never plays to it's full potential. French and Spanish fans DON'T swallow their teams looking pedestrian average against opposition they should be wiping the floor with...

AND NEITHER SHOULD WE!

One thing I will say is that the defence held up fine - people are over doing how bad that is.

Foden was decent, Kane wasn’t involved enough but was unlucky not to score, Saka had a bipolar performance. Bellingham and Rice were incredible and Pickford was very reliable again

Saka hasn't played for over a month he was always going to fade. Foden dreadful along with a poor performance from Kane, he can get away with it if he scores that header. He just looks like he's running in treacle these days. If you want to play like this you've got to have an out ball and Kane cannot run simple as that. If we play higher up then he can influence the game but playing like we did in the second half he might as well not be there.

Southgate is the definite weak link in this side, well apart from Trippier at left back.

Southgate has the reactions of a geriatric tortoise - Gallagher should have been on 10 mins earlier than he was

We had a numpty or two from our board that were OK with Southgate being our manager.

Foden was the big issue. Wanted to play in areas Bellingham and Kane occupy. And when he was on the ball he was poor. Needs to be dropped for the next game.

I'd genuinely have Brendan Rodgers over Gareth. 😂

European teams rightly fear England cos England has arguably the best squad in Europe right now (even with the dodgy defense). It isn't so much that England are historically amazing, but the talent factory has dried up for many of the traditional top sides like Germany, Italy and even Spain who have no world class striking talent and look technically less adept than previous sides.

Solid first win. Tournaments aren’t easy and teams grow into them. Winning your first game against a strong opponent and hoping to build on things and build some kind of rhythm is all you can ask for.

As a four it doesn’t work without shaw, Trippier can’t give us the width down the left hand side.

We’re in praying for Beckham territory with Shaw - he is vital to making that front four work.

The thing with Kane is that if you aren’t creating chances then he will drop deep looking for the ball - difficult to blame him as the one chance he got, the only reason he doesn’t score is because the keeper pulls off a worldy

England have yet to show they've stepped up to another level. Let's see what the do in the next game — can't be playing the same 11.
