"anyone with half a brain cell knew this was coming...."

By which you mean the moment we lost a game you'd be full bed wetting, knee jerking, proclaiming "I told you so"

Some 'fans' simply cannot wait for us to slip up, to fill the gaps in on their narrative.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agree there. After the initial shock of losing a match Spurs should have won, have moved on quickly. Yesterday was all to do with bad defending. So not pinning that on Ange, other than he could have done the subs quicker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely. As fecking annoyed as I was, you have to think that this is a lesson we needed to learn. It wasn't the tactics, we came out 2nd half at half speed, looking to protect what we had, and they came out in top gear.

If anything it endorses Ange's philosophy, that you down take your foot off their throat. Regardless of the score, the time left, whatever, you stay relentless as we were in the first half.

This is a learning curve. Those saying "anyone could see this coming" as some sort of justified attack on Ange's tactics and just pushing a very simple narrative that we let in 3 goals therefore it's the tactics. To reach that conclusion is to fail to see what actually happened in the second half - The dropped intensity, the sloppiness, the mistakes, the giving of hope to the opposition.

Rather than wetting the bed, we should hope that this is an important lesson learned. We are a work in progress, we need to learn and improve. Whether we do or is is when we judge our progress.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Important lesson learnt”

Sorry mate but do you believe anything that the club tells you? How many times have players/managers come out and said we need to learn/have learnt/will do better next time.

Nothing is changing. Iz di istori ov di totten ham
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WTF are you on about.

This is about this group of players, under this manager, going through a journey of development and progress, with the aim of developing into a top side.

That happens through practice and through experience. What happened under other managers, at other times, with other players is nothing to do with what happened yesterday. As a group, you face these situations and on this occasion they fecked up. You could say it happened vs Leicester, total control and then some sloppiness and its 1-1 and a very different game. No one really saw the 2nd half coming and may be that was part of the problem. At 2-0 we didnt feel like we needed to keep the same intensity and quality, may be we felt we'd done the hard work...and they got a very nasty shock.

Learn the lesson. The 3rd goal is just as important as the 1st. We have to remain ruthless and make our domination count and not get suckered in to thinking total domination, 2 nil at HT = victory.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
New team? What?

Last season we set some new record for taking the lead and failing to win with something like 5 games in a row.

So was the lesson not learnt then? Exactly.

posted on 7/10/24

These lessons we are learning are making us worse, not better.

posted on 7/10/24

Also, our manager is clear in that he doesn't want to learn lessons. We just keep doing the same thing over and over and apparently it will get better over time as players get used to his way and buy into it.

We don't learn from mistakes or how teams approach us. All we do is try and do the same things better.

posted on 7/10/24

Id say Brighton learned more in 45 Mins of that second half than Spurs have in the past 12 months

Nobody questions that Spurs have good players or that Ange's approach going forward is great.

Ignoring the likes of Pep/Klopp/ Emery (who BTW is proving how you improve and team in the RIGHT way)..... I have no doubt that Poch would have more points/ better cup runs with this Spurs squad in the same time/spend that Ange has had

Yep..works in a pub league when you are by far the best team..... I honestly don't understand why this is so difficult for some to get their heads around....

I believe we’ve now lost 8 of our last 14 league games.

Anyone thinking this is acceptable needs to give their head a wobble.

I just cant stand listening to all this nonsense comparing Ange with Legohead.... Arsenal are in a different league to us. Anyone notice that team is built on solid defense and they attack from there, (same with Liverpool)

Compare what Ange has done to Spurs compared to what Emry has done at Villa (They also play a high line BTW) and tell me Ange is doing a good job

He's nothing more than a "fall guy" for Levy.... Keep the punters buying expensive tickets under the guise we are now fun to watch (yes for neutrals) with ZERO realistic chance of us actually developing a "winning" football team

Emery's first season Aston Villa finished 14th in the league. To be fair Emery took over Gerrard a quarter the way through.

Emery's second season Aston Villa finished 7th.

Emery's third season Aston Villa finished 4th.

Ange's first season Spurs finished 5th.

I would say comparing the two, that so far Ange is doing a good job.

What's last season got to do with this season!?

I see so many people trying to bring in stats and carry them over as if they mean something, maybe just to suit an agenda.

The fact is last season we finished 5th and this season we are 9th having played 7 matches.

If you want the guy gone fair enough, I don't agree but as a spurs fan I understand and feel your pain, especially how last nights second half went down.

Looking at this season so far though I can only say the coventry game and the second half of last night we have been awful.

Despite the points so far I already feel we have made a big improvement in our performances from last season.

Definitely stuff to improve but we have to give this guy a chance.

Stop talking sense. We want all the trophies now. Perfection, now. We cannot lose a game. If we do then we all saw it coming and the manager needs to go, the players need to be sold and buy some non-bottlers and the chairman needs to go

Emery's 2nd season with Villa he finished 4th not 7th. First season he took over part way and finished 7th after following on from a failing Gerrard.

It doesn't make the Ange comparison look quite as good, especially knowing Ange spent more money and didn't have any European games to distract him.

posted on 7/10/24

It’s nothing to do with losing games though dev

For me yesterday it was the manor of the loss and Ange stood there doing nothing when it was obvious to everyone else we needed to change and get another body in midfield to help bentencur

Kulu was everywhere and FairPlay to his work rate but it was a bit headless chicken at times

Werner shoukd have been off at 2-2 and biss on with kulu wide ….he stood there looking at the ground shaking his head expecting it all to suddenly change

and Villa just failed to beat Utd at home, when we knobbed 'em 3-0 at Old Toilet.

Do you think Villa fans are decrying the manager making stupid threads like "i knew this would happen"

They literally bettered us by 2 points last season, yet their manager's a genius, having had 9 months more in post, and ours is flawed, according to some.!
