I think as a club we should just never hire Dutch coaches ever again. What have they ever done for the game?

I think EtH might, big caveat here, have fared better in a more harmonious and stable environment. He was an unfortunate victim of our unique circumstances. However, regardless of the challenges, it was ultimately the lack of identity on the pitch and the results that sealed his fate. As for ruling out future Dutch managers, we shouldn’t limit our pool of talent. I hope EtH regroups and rebuilds his reputation elsewhere.

A disciple of Jose who learnt his craft under him at OT. Legend.

Destiny! No wonder he turned down every other offer, his heart was set on this one hot seat.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do we think it is actually true that he turned Liverpool down in the summer?

I think very few managers will succeed at Utd, and ETH just didn't have the right attributes to succeed here. But he still managed to get 2 trophies, and he's not a bad manager. i am sure he will find the right club in due course

Yeh, I think the was unlucky to some extent. And despite the fact the football was poor, the players didn't help him out either - especially this season, where we have missed some really good chances/wasted good openings.

That said, I still don't think that he is at the required level. And I have reservations about whether the new manager will be too, as he has a comparable record to ETH. Although I believe that he has more charisma, which I think ETH was sadly lacking.

Everything I have read says that Liverpool were interested, but lost interest because he wouldn't consider playing anything other than his preferred 343.

He did fly to London to speak to West Ham, but eventually opted to stay put. He actually had to apologise publicly for doing so, as the club weren't happy with him.

He's basically leaving Sporting Clube de Portugal for Sporting Clube de England. We're so sporting we actively help the opponent to win games.

Charisma could be a big thing with the squad of players he's inherited. I do get the impression that ETH is a bit of a nit-picker, I know details are important but it would start grinding people down if it was constant.

Note: this is based on nothing other than how he comes across in the media so could be complete BS lol

I kind of know what you mean - the impression I get is that it wouldn't be that enjoyable playing under ETH. Just the way he comes across as you say, not someone who wouild really make you believe in him

Maybe, but this club has mentally destroyed managers for the last 12 years.
The only thing that would draw people to united at the moment is £££££. Any sane person that didn't want a big paycheck would steer clear.

That really depends on the manager. You don't think that the chance to return United to our former glories is a pull for some managers?

I know that the club has been poorly run. But I am not sure that ETH really has anyone to blame. He has been well backed in the transfer market and, from the signings that he has made, it seems likely that the players brought in were his choices. We have spent circa £600m under ETH. He can't blame the crap football on those above him.
