Suddenly Levy's determination to get the stadium finished, even massively over budget, makes a lot more sense - presumably he needed Spurs to be as asset-rich and marketable as possible in time to justify the club being involved in the ESL.
Can't stand the idea of the new competition, but as far as commercial ventures go, it's pretty impressive
Its not going to fail if they get it through tbf
Will get more than enough viewership internationally
It been in the making for awhile. The International cup summer competition pre season was a test IMO

Yeah, if the games are pay per view worldwide that'll give them a big buffer if ticket sales fail
I just wonder how transfers/drafts will happen. There's bound to be some sort of roster/draft system, both to create a more level playing field and also because broadcasters will lap up marketing big auction days.
In a way that's the thing that bothers me most. It's already hard to identify much with a team full of mercenary players that have no personal ties or loyalty to the club. A draft system just sounds so... Sterile, soulless
Wasn't Agnelli trying to make it so champions league clubs couldn't buy players from each other?
I wouldn't be surprised if that happens in the ESL

That sounds insane. What are clubs meant to do if they want to sell a player? Presumably they can only sell to a non-ESL club... But ESL players might not be eligible to play in FIFA/UEFA competitions, so what happens then?
As long as international football is a bargaining chip then it will burn and fail
I guess they'd be allowed back into uefa competitions if they leave the ESL, they're gonna be desperate for good players
Or we'll eventually get a second tier of the ESL that players go into
I sent an email of complaint to the club earlier today. I don’t think it will do anything but at least my feelings are on the record

Ceferin has come out guns blazing. Not saying that settles it, but it'd be hard for him to walk back on his position when he's set it out in such strong terms
