It’s just mainly cos the obscene strain they take on their heart

The stat that like 1 in 10 people have an underlying heart condition

The fact that PEDs do effect heart muscle walls

The fact that they consume an obscene amount of caffeine (there was a report that the English national team once had a game cancelled last minute at 8pm and they were unable to sleep until 3am)

Yeah I think the screening is a huge part of why it happens less

But tbh while they are all exceptionally well conditioned the strain that comes from playing football isnt going to be among the worst sports for it

You'd imagine it would happen more in rugby or NFL where the PED use is more rampant for gaining size - which is what causes the most risk to the heart

Off topic but went through a weird stage of watching Shaq highlight reels on youtube last week or so

Man was SO much bigger than everyone else, wtf

There's footage of him pre game playing one on one with MJ and its like a dad playing with his kid

It’s hilarious as he had a huge biiiiiitchfit about Dwight Howard when he entered the league and dominated due to his size. If Shaq wasn’t a genetic freak he’d have been nothing - whereas other players had way more talent

You’re right though - screening etc will cover and help with a lot and football is much more of a steady running sport than most. I’ve told a few people to look at squash stats - that kills so many 40year olds!

Yeah it must be highly unlikely you make it through an elite academy to the senior sides with a detectable heart defect

Then it must also be on the lists for transfer medicals

No one is putting down the modern day fees with the risk a players heart will give in without running checks

have had myprotein and bulk powders before

how many do you neck a day? im just having 1 20 minutes after hour sesh

2 a day. My protein target is ~165g a day, which is fecking hard to hit with actual food.

First thing in the morning I have a protein coffee (30g scoop mocha whey powder, ~100ml skimmed milk, whiz it in the Nutribullet and stir in instant coffee & boiling water). Bit sweet but bloody nice way to start the day, and ~30g protein for ~130kcal.

I usually have a second shake for pudding after dinner (same as above but natural choc flavour powder and no coffee). Tastes like a normal hot chocolate, and again ~30g protein for ~130kcal.

Even then I'm only 60g towards my target so I still have to find 100g protein from food

im trying to hit around 140g

not sure if im board with the whole 1g per pound thing

id be eating 190g

Depends on your goal. Most people don't need 1g per lb body weight. I'm doing a body recomp so ultimately the main thing is being in a slight calorie deficit, and the precise macros don't matter so much as long as I'm getting a good whack of protein and not overdoing the kcals.

If I was on a serious bulking plan then hitting a big protein target with plenty of clean carbs would be much more important obviously

Oh and I'm about 205lbs at the moment

205g protein a day would kill me I think

I think 150g is enough for anyone really, unless you're doing ridiculous workouts

How much water is everybody getting? Finding it surprisingly easy to get 3 litres these days. Think I got 4 yesterday

I think it’s all stupid. Just eat semi decent and exercise and take weight loss amphetamine pills and it’s fine

I use MyProtein too, hard not to when every youtuber and their mother has at least 35% discount code

Trying to finish off a kg bag of strawberry vanilla right now. Excited to try the clear whey next, it's like a dilute juice when in water apparently

I actually don’t take protein shakes. Don’t think I need to, BCAAs while I work out and and Creatine is enough (although I never use that as I always forget)
