Ive sat on my hands over the City sponsorship stuff cause Chelsea had a free run at just pumping money in before the rules were there. But their fans on here can be very weird about it, its crystal clear what happened and the likes of Boris straight up deny it
Apparently Leicester also had that 30m sponsorship when in the championship. The next highest was Derby at the time and that was 750k
If Leicester get relegated anytime soon the Football League might be forced to track back and investigate it
Interesting, I didn’t realise that. Yeah the City fans are weird about that, but there are only about 3.
Derby were dodgy as hell too the last few years
General attitude of do whatever it takes to get promoted in the Championship
So many clubs pumped so much into the club praying they’d get promoted. Villa would have gone into admin had they failed again.
Yeah its like betting your house on red
I guess as long as you don’t get admin’d you probably wouldn’t mind
Fair play to Brentford
Due to the way they were run they managed to stay up near the top and have several cracks at it
Villa were risking a full on Sunderland/Leeds tho
It’s weird that so few teams seem to try and follow their model, especially as so many clubs have shown how successful it can be. I guess maybe they are and it isn’t as easy as it looks.
Does their London based recruitment area not help a lot?
I don’t think so, I don’t think it’s as much of a pull as people make out - especially when you realise how far out of London most footballers live.
Kind of like how all the Manchester and Liverpool players live in Knutsford. I think with their lifestyle they’d rather space for their big houses.

Slightly off-topic but why do footballers who spend so much money and time building palaces in the suburbs not invest properly in security?
I am not blaming them for the thefts but I was amazed that Reece James had little more than a flimsy gate and a few cameras.

I didnt mean it like that, the quality of players out of certain areas just tends to trend higher

As in the local London catchment produces higher quality players? I don’t think that’d be a factor but don’t really know tbh
Just settling in to the new house and job. Mrs is pregnant, it’s been a pretty full on year.
