he was genuinely not guilty/framed though wasn't he?

Well:
* At best it was pretty gross and shady
* being found not guilty and being found innocent in SA cases are two different things
* it is from such a long time ago, to bring up something that’s largely irrelevant is weird

I brought it up because something reminded me of something that happened a couple of years ago on another forum, where everyone was watching live coverage of a sports event and Ennis came on, and someone asked if Ennis ever apologised to Evans (for the campaign which ended his football career), and the poster was permabanned and cast as a villain.

Have just been reading about it, and yes it does seem very disreputable, although how far removed it is from behaviour which would go without comment if it involved a random bloke on a weekend in Blackpool or Ibiza I'm not sure.

My impression is that what's likely happened (and what the jury of men and women has accepted at the retrial based on the evidence presented) is that his mate's brought this girl (who according to her was "tipsy but not out of control" ) back to a hotel and shgaged her. She's then (according to evidence at the retrail this seems the most likely scenario) encouraged him to engage in sxe with her (possibly knowing he's a footballer), which he's done without (according to him) talking to her before or afterwards, and whilst his brother and their mate tried to video it through the window, and he's then legged it down the fire escape.
So yeah. not gentlemanly by any stretch of the imagination at all in fact.
But I wonder whether similar behaviour might occur in Ibiza or whatever without it resulting in a celebrity/public figure using their influence to lose the bloke his career, on the basis that (albiet as was thought at the time based on a criminal conviction) he was a praist.

I think maybe that's why the poster asked if she'd ever apologised.

It looks like the original conviction was on the basis that she claimed she had been drugged and lost her memory, although toxicology reports didn't find anything in her blood to suggest this, and she flat out denied the allegations of what he had claimed she told him to do, but at the retrail previous partners gave evidence that she had said and done exactly the same with them.

Anyway, sorry for bringing it up. Obviously a contentious topic.

I still don't see that asking whether Ennis apologised is - even if it was perhaps inappropriate - that wicked of a thing to say.

I kind of got the original post without context, I just think it’s something in the past that’s relatively irrelevant to right now which is why if it had come up out of the blue I’d understand people’s issues with it.

Also admittedly I didn’t predict Madders knee would blow up while running a straight line

Still can't believe Son did a trilogy if videos to say goodbye. The 3rd one was on par with Godfather 3 as well.
