Wait, it's the sacking of Levy that has you boycotting the club?
When you first said about what the owners did, I assumed it was something serious like Man City style building their riches off slaves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s what we are scrapping morals from still having ‘British owners’ that aren’t like that

I wasn't totally sold on Iraola tbh but seeing how Bournemouth have kept going while the bigger players they lost have struggled somewhat really is a testament to him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was very keen on him over Silva and Frank but not sure on what other than the Poch language and path similarities

Also wanted Iraola instead of Frank. If we'd got Mbeumo it would've been worth it to

I wasn't sure there was a large enough sample size to act on, but looks like I was wrong. He's just class.
I like Frank a lot too though, I think you'll go through a period of pragmatism while he figures things out though. Did the same at Brentford and they ended up being a decent mid-table size which was really impressive too.

Does Silva also deserve more respect
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
I like Silva too, able to build a decent team, work with existing players, play different styles, etc.
Not sure if he's found his level and become a bit of a PL journeyman of the modern game though.
Will probably get one slightly higher profile job to prove himself I'd imagine and couldn't begrudge him that.

Silva probably deserves more respect like Moyes did. Just because he's not likely to be a top 6 fit doesn't mean he's not good.
That's my reservation with Frank - not that he's not good - he's unproven under more scrutiny, more tougher games against European opposition.

Tbf if your level is holding onto a PL mid table job for 5 years you are doing very well as a manager

Yeah of course but we're talking relatively tho right? They're all in the top few percentage points like the players.
But I do think 'frauds' can still sneak through like Potter and arguably Amorim and Ange. Unless you're truly horrible the quality of the players and club structure does a lot to make up for any shortcomings

Wonder if Maresca will go down as a fraud

Basically impossible for that now tho innit

I think Maresca could be a good candidate for the Silva/Moyes tier. Maybe he gets found out at the very top but he's not awful right? Though what was he doing against United? That was fraud behaviour
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
to give him credit, we generally set up well when facing a better side than us

He might be one of those managers who has a certain cycle. Start steady, good second season, drop off, get sacked with the club basically in the same position as when he came in. Rinse & repeat
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
he clearly likes, and has talent for, figuring out the tactics to beat specific high level opposition
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
That's just an example of a cycle, not an example of him. Cos I think he hasn't worked enough to have a cycle.
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
his cycle was p'ss off the fans and then leave before that toxicity affects anything
