Buzzing with this win to be honest. 2 goals, clean sheet, away from home, London derby. I’d take that all that long. Not the most convincing performance if we’re being completely honest, but right now, I’m just enjoying the moment. Would be amazing if we went on a little run of games and finished in the top half, but I’m not hopeful. COYS

Trying to talk about the match on this thread? You poor deluded fool...
Just what we needed. A ground out result. 3 points very important of course but to get a result when not at our best or strongest. Shows we can do it. Shows we can defend a lead and sit back a bit. A skill we need to take into our game management. Know when to go for the throat, know when to suffer a bit.
I hope we learn from these experiences and come out the other end a stronger unit, with a better understanding of what it takes to bring home a win.

The thing is, was that a deliberate tactic today, or were we just not very good and hanging on?
Either way, loads more fight than we have seen recently. When Destiny and Porro are both fit, he better not drop Djed!!!!

DJed Spence is arguably our best full back - should be starting every game. Still can’t believe he wasn’t involved in the Europa squad

If he was better than your other fullbacks, why were you trying to flog him off to Genoa last summer (who wouldn't meet the option-to-buy fee of just £8.5m)?

This looks like a pretty poor decision now. He's not just arguably our best full back but one of our best players at the moment. And we omitted him from the Europa squad by having 4 keepers, when only 3 were required. Forster's inclusion is the notable one that keeps Spence out of the squad and he is not even 3rd choice in our overall squads anymore.

I wasn’t aware of that but who knows?
There were question marks around his attitude apparently. Not sure if there was an issue there, but he’s a superb player.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Forster was no.2. Austin with zero appearances as no.2 in Europe would have been hammered. Especially when Vic got injured.
None of us knew, or Ange, or any of the previous 3 managers knew Austin would be pretty good when called upon.
No one was crying out for Spence either. So we learned 2 things during this injury crisis. Let's not pretend it was a no trainer.
Funny how you're incredulous about the ommission of this Levy "club signing". I suppose he just got lucky, like any decision that works out, right?

Genoa had an option to buy, wanted to pay less we refused. That's the opposite of trying to flog him. We kept him AND gave him a new deal Admittedly hes performed better than most expected . I always thought he had all the attributes but I've been impressed by his running and energy and his defensive abilities.
Let's hope Salah climbs back into his pocket for the 2nd leg.

Spence played himself into the starting eleven the first chance he got.I think it might have been a cup match or a Europa match, but no matter.....
It was obvious then that he was a starter.

It does seem as though.......at long last....... that one trick pony from down under has decided to take defense seriously!
Damned well showed to day.....we had a defense! Davies, Spence, Gray, Porro.....
And backup from the midfield!
Why, even Bissouma had a decent game turning defense into attack.
Perhaps we'll see a little more defense in coming games?

Just what we needed. A ground out result. 3 points very important of course but to get a result when not at our best or strongest. Shows we can do it. Shows we can defend a lead and sit back a bit. A skill we need to take into our game management. Know when to go for the throat, know when to suffer a bit.
I hope we learn from these experiences and come out the other end a stronger unit, with a better understanding of what it takes to bring home a win.

DJed Spence is arguably our best full back - should be starting every game. Still can’t believe he wasn’t involved in the Europa squad
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he was better than your other fullbacks, why were you trying to flog him off to Genoa last summer (who wouldn't meet the option-to-buy fee of just £8.5m)?

Just what we needed. A ground out result. 3 points very important of course but to get a result when not at our best or strongest. Shows we can do it. Shows we can defend a lead and sit back a bit. A skill we need to take into our game management. Know when to go for the throat, know when to suffer a bit.
I hope we learn from these experiences and come out the other end a stronger unit, with a better understanding of what it takes to bring home a win.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is, was that a deliberate tactic today, or were we just not very good and hanging on?
Either way, loads more fight than we have seen recently. When Destiny and Porro are both fit, he better not drop Djed!!!!

Has never looked back!

COYS

Cornwall wrong again, there was a whole article which many contributed to back at the start of the season saying what a stupid decision it was based on Djeds friendly performances.
