Hoping Fuham win it

What annoys me more is that if we'd have woken up during the Villa game, which was evidently winnable, we'd have faced Cardiff and then Preston to get to a semi. We would have had a better chance than I can ever think of.

When you look, it does feel like a bit of a chance missed but at the same time we were playing Villa away, so a tough fixture regardless, unlike when we've got at before to lower league teams.

All the more reason why the Europa is such a good chance for us to win something. Down to the manager to deliver.

Actually talking of the Cup, did anyone else watch the Newcastle Brighton game on ITV at the weekend? They were talking beforehand about the possibility of an English manager winning the Cup for the first time since Redknapp in 08 and then proceeded to list the successful English managers down the years. They listed Redknapp, then Joe Royle in 95 and then skipped right back to the 80s missing out on giving Venables any credit for winning it in 91 with us. Not only is there a media bias against us but Venables feckin worked for ITV year after year. They can't even protect their own. Absolute arrrrseholes.

Plus I've no doubt that had we got through, we certainly wouldn't have drawn those two.

Hoping Bouremouth will get passed man city, then it'll look fantastic for the next round.

I can't see past Liverpool and City to win the cups.

Would be good to see Bournemouth knock City out and then it would be really wide open.

I fancy Villa to win it, but only if they avoid Forest. Low blocks seem to be their achilles heel

Would love for Palace to win it personally

Would be so anti-climatic if city won

I'm rooting for ex Leeds fan favourite Rutter's Brighton and hoping his tears of disappointment with us last May at Wrmbley are tears of joy this time.

Don't mind any team that isn't City winning it. It will be refreshing to see, even if it does make a mockery of us.

Why does it make a mockery of us.

We lost to Liverpool & Villa(a) in cups. Hardly shameful even if we had fit team.

Because it will be another team, possibly 2, who will have won something before we do since our last win over 15 years ago. You wouldn't say any of them have been as big a club as us in that time.

Strong possibility of a new cup winner

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The FA Cup is up for grabs, any of the remaining teams will fancy their chances given City's indifferent form this season.

Not just the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup could see Newcastle win a domestic cup for the 1st time since the 50's.

And of course the PL could and probably should be won by Liverpool from here on in.

So all the major domestic trophies have a good chance of being won by teams that don't usually win that particular competition.

Levy out.

There is plenty to get annoyed about regarding this season but going out of both domestic cups to last 16 CL teams is hardly one of them.

The Europa has always represented our best chance of a trophy as the 3rd place CL teams no longer drop in which has a hugely negative effect on the quality of what's left.

Personally think Liverpool will comfortably beat Newcastle. Newcastle are like the Spurs of the north, promise lots, but always stumble when it matters.

Agree Pawl, losing away to CL league teams with half or more of the best team missing was not that difficult to predict. Unfortunately some of our fan base thought there was no excuse for Spurs not winning both.

My point is not who we went out to, it's about other teams possibly picking up trophies while we still wait to do it. It just makes everything look worse for Spurs/Levy/ENIC and is another nail in the coffin of this long running failing under these owners.

I mean this will all be academic if we win the Europa, as we probably should.

I think Ange resting players 8 days before the AZ 1st leg clearly shows that he knows what's riding on it.

Having put pressure on himself by saying he always wins a trophy in his 2nd season I fear that anything other than winning it will see him getting binned off by Levy.

It's really odd that we will either be in the CL or have no European football next season.
