Hafi said Obi is the worst striker he’s ever seen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bodes quite well for us then as what Hafi says has as much truth about it as Man City's financial reports.
What I fear for Obi in particular is that he is just a young striker in a team which isn't exactly creating many chances and hope his confidence isn't dented if things are a struggle when he does get a chance to play.
I remember Hojlund having an ok run under ETH for a few games, but it all on him, playing week in week out without anyone to share the burden.
Unless you have a worldie teenager, like Owen / Fowler / Rooney etc it's a lot to put on any young striker. It must be the priority for the summer.
Fair point Kisang, as you say though, truly top players don't allow their confidence to be dented.
If you look at the chances he had yesterday, they were ones he really made of his own back, though battling with a CB and his sharpness in the box. Whilst he was quiet in general I was impressed.
Hojlund needs a spell out of the firing line, he's gone 17 games without a goal, it's just not good enough.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hojlund would never admit it, but he needs a break from starting pretty much every game, but there are sometimes no other options available - that is both tough on him and the rest of the squad.
Most top players don't really full develop until their mid 20s, and I am sure most have gone through a crisis of confidence.
obi will be super-hungry to get his chance etc, I just hope a combination of his eagerness and us being able to provide him with chances comes off. But I remember in Hojlund's early games we were all thinking, when he settles, he'll be really good for us.

Yes, considering the money we spent and the wage bill.
We do miss Diallo, but he's young himself. We should have a couple of experienced players who shoulder the pressure, but alas, we don't and I don't think that's what the club are looking for.
So at the very least, we need 2/3 more options in attack to help Nacho, Diallo and Hojlund.

I don't see us getting rid of any of Nacho, Diallo, Hojlund or Zirkzee. I doubt Obi is anywhere near ready so I don't think we have a Rooney / Fowler / Owen lurking in the ranks.
I think at least one experienced forward is a must. Money is tight, but I would love someone like Bowen. he would probably have a crazy price on him, as would the likes of Mateta and others at similar clubs. But I would prefer someone who is proven in the EPL, and dare I say, has the right attitude.
I just don't see the point in bringing in another very young player from a playing point of view
The only hope of getting an experienced + quality striker is if we manage to convince one who's available on free agency. Even then, if they're seriously good, they'll have better options than United. I think we're looking at mid-market players, e.g. Jonathan David.
@OP, just mentioned Obi-Martin and Heaven in the reasons to be cheerful article I was writing while you were writing this one. Was impressed with both of them yesterday. And we don't need academy players to be world beaters for them to be very useful over the next couple of seasons. If they can provide credible squad depth so we can concentrate our meagre transfer budget on fewer, higher quality players, this will be significant.

They were both subtly impressive imo, I think being at the ground you get a slightly bigger picture are times, and Heaven read the Fulham attacks really well, marking Sessengon out of the attacks.
Obi covers ground very quickly, I'd like to see more runs down the channels from him, but he seems to really come alive in the box.
Be nice if Garnacho could develop his decision making as right now it's utterly appalling. He makes the wrong decision 7/8 times out of 10.
His ability to run at players and go past them isn't the issue. He can do this for fun. But my word he needs to learn to get his head up more and see where his teammates are.
Out of Hojlund, Zirkzee and Garnacho.....Nacho is definitely the one with the highest ceiling and where you have something to work with. The other two need to be moved on. I just don't think either of them are good enough for PL football.
