Not sold on Ugarte yet at all. Collyer looks a decent squad option.
Don’t mind Ugarte, gets through a lot of work, steadily improving, Collyer seems quite versatile, hopefully he isn’t overplayed like Mainoo
It's great to have Collyer right now. He has the physicality (strength, speed and stamina) to compete at PL level, and has an edge on Casemiro and Mainoo in that respect. Also has pretty good intelligence and composure for a player of his age. Altogether, that's an asset when we have a very shallow squad. Right now he's not showing the quality on the ball that we'd want to see from a first choice player in the hypothetical United that is pushing for CL qualification or above. We shouldn't expect that of a 21 year-old academy player taking his first steps in senior football. Basically, he's doing great, and we'll see how he develops from this point.
Yer but they were both wearing White boots... can't be doing that. right now I'm eye balling them two like Casemiro did Dalot. I'm the Sociedad game.
I'm never worried by Collyer. Never.
I thought he was pretty poor against Leicester, in the back line at least – he dawdled on the ball too much and it was probably his worst outing for us to date – but it was his first game in a little while, and we’re all allowed them.
Generally speaking, I like his energy, determination and confidence. He’s usually pretty sharp and careful enough with the ball.
At the moment, he’s a useful option when we need a little more of a shield and a couple of players in the middle to break the game up. Beyond that, we’ll have to wait and see. He didn’t really stand out to me whilst he was coming through, but hopefully he gets a chance to show us what he can do with the ball too, and can add a bit of range and creativity to his passing.
McTominay still better than all of your midfielders bar Bruno.

McTominay still a better goalscorer than all of your midfielders bar Bruno.

Fixed it for you.
If we're playing a double pivot (which we have under Solskjaer, ETH and Amorim) McTominay isn't even really a midfielder. He doesn't have the capacity to take the ball on the turn back to goal, isn't a consistent ball carrier under pressure, isn't a progressive passer, doesn't have great defensive positioning/anticipation instincts. Ugarte, Mainoo and Casemiro all have more of those qualities than him. McTominay has made an excellent move to Napoli, not just because it's a great club and city and his athleticism stands out more in Serie A, but because Conte's system is perfect for his game. It asks him to run a lot, support the high press, crash the box, and relieves him of responsibility in build up.

Casemiro - No legs.
Eriksen - No legs.
Ugarte - All legs.
Mount - Crumbling legs.
Mainoo - To be fair, potential to be better than McTominay.
In terms of effectiveness McTominay wipes the floor with all of the above.
