Using gasoline, i can add 500+ miles in <2 minits

t's funny how petrol heads claimed EV charge times of an hour or more, while they could fill up in 5 minutes.

Now because EV charge times can match ICE cars, it now drops to 2 minutes, as if 5 mins is now prohibitive. This is just another nail in the ICE car coffin.

The end of ICE is coming, and will happen a lot quicker than people think. ICE manufacturers are already struggling, with falling sales and profits.

The future is electric. whether people realise it yet or not.

Bad people are now switching to Teslas away from Audi, Mercedes and BMW petrol and diesel, for fashion reasons. When something begins becoming popular with awful folk, instead of for environmental reasons, then it takes off much more.

Umm, ok. There are all sorts of reasons people are making the switch to EV. Financial, political, and yes environmental.

Yeah but when the garbage switch, then that's when it really takes off.

Like North Face jackets. They were for outdoor enthusiasts. Then bad people started buying them for fashion, so they took off massively.

Something being fashionable is far more powerful than it being environmentally friendly, affordable (it isn't affordable) etc. They buy it regardless of the price. For fashion.

The basic biiitch fashion car on finance market is pretty much the biggest one there is.

So Tesla taking a chunk of that from Mercedes/Audi/BMW would be huge for them.

People can look at it however they like. It will not change the EV future.

Any company not investing in EV's are doomed.

There is a big issue with infrastructure at the moment though. A large proportion of people who have them are well off enough to have somewhere at home to charge them. The infrastructure isn't there for the significant proportion of people in cities who don't have driveways or gardens.

The current infrastructure available to the public is fragmented and unreliable.

The infrastructure is there and will only grow as the EV market does. There is no reason the move to electric can't be accommodated.

It will have many benefits too.

Who makes the investment in all of the charging infrastructure needed? As I said it's easy for the current crop of well off folk to charge at home. But there's a significant proportion of the yet untouched market that won't have access to home charging. This presents a significant barrier to a more significant shift

Some of the efforts by Porsche etc to invest in e-fuels is helping the ICE cause. Quite honestly synthetic fuel would be the way to go rather than electric cars which aren’t exactly fantastic for the environment either.

Electric cars are a flawed concept, the idea behind them is superb but it’s not practical in so many corners of the world, including swathes of this country.

They’ll be surpassed by another option before ICE dies.

posted on 19/3/25

Synthetic fuels are never going to be a thing on our roads, and are the last gasp of the oil and auto industry to keep ICE relevant in today's more environmentally conscious world.

I have never said EV's are green, but they are greener which is the point. The world is moving away from fossil fuels, anyone investing in ICE will be investing in the past not the future.

The charging infrastructure will pay for itself, especially as EV sales increase.

I don’t invest in car manufacturers, I just own cars, and I wouldn’t go EV.

Who pays for the initial investment in charging infrastructure? Local authorities? Government? Musk types? Energy companies?
