We did play well considering our recent form etc. but all our weaknesses and problems are still present which won’t be addressed until Ange changes or is replaced.

To win against most we need to score at least three which is a ridiculous situation to be in.

I think we play better when we are front foot.

Sit back and we rarely come out on top.

Also think our "stupid early goal" was more about the quality of the finish than any awful defending or tactics

posted 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Maddison pretty much gave up the ball in the middle of the park and gifted them possession. Fell right into their trap.

Porro was of course out of position as well. Yeah great finish but was all abit too easy. What 2 passes?

posted 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Even when we play well we struggle to win, and when we play badly we almost never win.

The top sides win well when playing well, and scrape wins when playing badly.

Agree.....wasn't just referring to last night, more about the season in general. Their goal was excellent and that young French guy that scored it is a handful... V good player..... The French keep churning them out.... Reminded me a bit of a young raw Henry.

When I say "stay in the game" I was thinking more about the way we played in LC Semi 1st Leg Vs Liverpool.

Frankfurt are very good on the counter and have pace.... Not saying sit back but just not to play too high, thats when we get played through too easily..... Bentancur and Bergvall are key... Both were excellent last night.... I'd play the same team.... I can live without Son at this point but he aint getting dropped now, esp if Odoobert is carrying a slight knock which I heard he is

Are you really this simple. The error was losing the ball and that was on Maddison BUT Porro is not out of position because we were in possession. Do you expect Porro to hang back at RB the whole game. Do you even watch football. How do you think we scored? by the full backs not stepping over half way?

Indeed. I said to my son last night with about 19inutes to go after hitting the bar and the GK having a blinder, well probably lose this now to a goal out of nowhere. One just cannot ever feel comfortable.

Admittedly i watched the game on a phone screen while travelling so not the best view but I thought we played well, much the better team and with a bit of luck it's more like a 3-1 or 4-2. So i expect we'll take a fair bit of confidence from that performance and hopefully pick it up in the return leg

I still think Spurs can play with much higher intensity. Romero walking out with the ball allowed Frankfurt to just organize so easily. When Spurs played the quicker tempo, they scored and created numerous chances.

Yep, we are so much better when we zip it about and play quick. Most teams can’t live with it.. That’s got be something we focus on the second leg.

I expect a defender to sniff the danger and snuff it out. The scorer peeled of Romero into Porro's space. Porro saw him but neglected him and caught on the hop.

At one point in the first half, both our full backs were in the CM position and were about 10 yards apart lol. It's crazy.

It was a better performance last night. I can see why it would be as we had almost our best line up and we're throwing all our eggs into one basket with this competition. From the manager to the players, they all know this is what's left of their season and it's probably bringing a bit more out of them. We still should have won it though and because we didn't I don't fancy us to have much chance in the second leg.

Pound for pound when we're at our best I think we've got more than a chance but the issue for the second leg is a lack of experience. I just think those young lads are going to get swallowed up by the atmosphere.

I think they'll play exactly the same way they did yesterday, even though they're at home and we'll get done looking for a goal. It's what always happens with us. They'll go 1-0 up and we'll be chasing the game and concede on the break. 2-0 final score.

For me we lost the tie last night. Luck wasn't on our side at all. We could have been looking at a 4-1 win.

posted 3 weeks, 6 days ago

I'm strangely optimistic. We were the better team yesterday by a fair distance so there's no reason why we can't go there and get a narrow win. We'll rest players but Wolves away will be a good preparation game as they are similar teams that break quick and have a good finisher but will need to go forward at home.

I'm not, but then I'm also not upset with the players or even Ange. I thought we played well. I'm just pissssed off that the footballing gods ignored us once again. We never, ever get a break.

I think the football Gods have watched this season and determined we are undeserving of a sprinkling of luck.... Came back to bite us last night

They punished United too by having Onana in goal

For all those people who keep going on about how many goals Spurs have scored in a woeful season.... I wish we could have take a few back in some of those lopsided 3,4 and five goal wins and kept a few for games like last night and some of the narrow loses and draws this season which have killed us

Rubbish! The ball is played out to the guy on our right but by the time he's half way inside our half, he's confronted with Porro who has recovered his position. He comes inside and shoots.

If i am critical of anyone in that piece its VDV who instead of holding the edge of box line (where he would have been a more effective blocker of that shot, he drops deep. Ultimately is a 3 v 6 position, both FBs in position, some slight details wrong in terms of where the CBs position themselves and a very good finish. It is not an example of the poor defending too easy to play against that we do see quite often.

The footballing gods are currently residing in the other half of north london. Having watched the injustice that the poor gooons have suffered all season with refs and var and the FA and the PL and even the weather, length of grass and lightness of the ball all against them, the Gods have stepped in to balance things up. Rice's goals are clear evidence of that.

Agree, it's meaningless. Scoring goals at this rate is a consequence of high risk football. If you commit bodies forward, you're going to score a load but you're also going to give up chances which we do in every single game.

If you're the second top scorers in the league and you sit in 14th, something is drastically wrong with your approach.
