Going to get a headache from the non-stop whistling the Madrid fans will be doing, so annoying.

The likelihood is Madrid will score, but so should we, their defence is pretty rubbish, and yes absolutely true whether its an early goal or not we cant panic or change the plan

Really hope it's Marti and not Trossard, even though his end product can be iffy he pushes defenders back so much better

I’ve got my missus into watching the footie and tonight we’re excited to watch the Arsenal. Got a lovely bottle of red in and she’s making a paella too.

Should be a fantastic evening and Arsenal into the semis.

Did last night make Arsenal fans a bit more nervous? Dortmund and Villa looked like turning their ties around and neither of those teams is called Real Madrid.

The CL knock outs can be crazy and ties can very quickly be level.

Hopefully it makes our players more concentrated and there is no thinking it is done already. Probably makes me a little bit more confident.

Might just be my Spurs bias but I still massively fancy Madrid here

Was already probably anxious as opposed to nervous but I think we always knew this job is far from done. I'd still give us a 70% chance but if Madrid get 2 I'd make them strong favourites.

Trossard for Martinelli would be pretty brain-dead stuff, so I doubt it happens. Leaving aside the fact Trossard is in worse form, it makes no tactical sense. Martinelli is more likely to attack his marker, occupying him, or get in behind Madrid's high line off the ball if they overpress.

Pessimistic as I often am, I'll be very surprised if it happens and we lost this tie from 3-0 up. Under Arteta, we don't tend to have bad losses against big teams. If Gabriel was fit for this one, even with our attacking injuries, I'd pretty much bet my house that Madrid couldn't overcome a 3 goal deficit against us.

The CL knock outs are different. Real Madrid NEED to win 3-0. So they will keep going as hard as they can to get to 3-0 like a team would at 0-0 looking to make it 1-0.

If a normal game is 1-0 then the winning team doesn't necessarily keep pushing for the next goal, and the opposing team will try and score because they need to.

It's a very different dynamic to a league game or CL group game.

There is a danger that Arsenal just constantly try and hold on without trying to score themselves and all of a sudden it is 3-0. Then they have to start attacking.

I agree with DJ and Barry to a point. Goals tend to come in clusters in these type of games so if we do concede one, its important that we don't let them build momentum.

To counter that we haven't conceded more than two goals in a game for 80 odd games. So as long as we play the game and not the occasion and we have a relatively balanced referee then we should be ok.

Luton the last team to score 3 against us in 2023

posted on 16/4/25

It’s important we just avoid any stupid mistakes and the players keep their heads, no panicked risky passes in final third, or silly challenges to give away a pen or a red. If we don’t do that, and put in even just put in a solid performance I think we’ll avoid going out. If we play sensible I can’t see Madrid scoring 3 with no reply. Of course the quality is in their team to outplay us, but if we avoid any dumbness we’ll increase our chances massively

when was the last time you scored more than 3 against Athletico or a team like Inter?

Unless there is a dodgy red card, I can't see it

I think RM will beat us 2-1 on the night. I can't see them keeping a clean sheet. We will go through 4-2 on agg.

For tonight I'm a gooner. I fecking hate Real Madrid. I'd love to see you knock the arrogant feckers out. I'm sincerely hoping to see Bellingham with a face like a well skelped erse tonight. Good luck Arsenal.

I will put a tenner on it - if it comes in then I will roll the winnings into Frankfurt winning tomorrow night.

Any other team and I would say this tie is done, but Madrid and the CL - it’s like faaacking voodoo, still remember the final with Atletico who were heroic on the night only for Ramos to score that header and then smash them in ET
