Despite the whole ‘we should stop listening to what players managers want’ weirdness it seems Amorim is a fan and the guy plays in exactly the type of position we’re crying out for top quality so it’s a no brainer.
I read that we might pay for him in instalments so if Wolves say yes to that I’m sure it’ll be a quick deal where he gets a full pre season.
I know it’s not an exact riposte to your point in the OP but google AI says this…
‘Matheus Cunha, a football player for Wolves, has traveled an impressive distance with the ball, carrying it nearly 5km this season, placing him among the top 10 attackers in the Premier League for carry distance. He leads Wolves in total carries (147) and overall carry distance (1,997m), with his average carry distance per carry being 13.6m’
So perhaps more of a defending from the front type player
Mbuemo available for £40m
I don’t think anyone is questioning his willingness or ability on the ball, Robb. The concern is about his work rate off the ball, particularly out of possession.
Defending from the front is key to Amorimball (or at least it was the Sporting version), and it requires an absolute dedication to the press and counterpress.
Are we going to get that from him?

Hopefully. It’s not exactly an answer to your question but in that Wolves game last week Amorim was seen speaking to him on two occasions and my keen detective mind deduced that must mean he really wants him to join us. I’m sure Amorim is clever enough to not ask the club to spunk away too much money on a player who won’t run for him. I guess it all comes down to what he’s asked to do at Wolves and also what running back stats he had at other clubs.
Would the walking not be tactical perhaps? To get into position where he can utilise his ball carrying skills.
I've not seen much of Wolves but I reckon, if they play like they did at OT, they defend quite deep at times in games which calls for it which, I suppose, would mean Cunha having less ground to cover. They maybe don't want him sprinting and want him more to help carry the team forward when they get the ball. They don't want him knackered!
In addition I'd also quite like us to buy players for what they can do going forward more than running back. We have enough defensive players in there! If Cunha isn't as dynamic defensively as some other players then perhaps that's why Delap is seen as a better option than Osimhen as Delap is easier to coax into working hard both ways?

We need to see ten outfield players on the pitch every week ready and willing to work hard both ways (unless people are happy with us reverting to a low block, possession-free, counterattacking side).
I’m not saying that Cunha can’t or won’t. Ultimately, that’s for the transfer team to decide. But I think it’s a very serious question to ask.
I just cannot watch us get beaten by Brighton or Bournemouth because they’ve outrun us by 10km again, I just can’t
He's the type of player we need, 25, PL proven, passionate about the game, has flair, power, can finish, drives into space, holds the ball, position is versatile.
I can't think of a more perfect fit if I'm honest. The frustrating thing is Ole was apparently admirer of his but he wound up at Wolves.

You son of a b*tch, I’m in.
But will the next manager want him…..?
The disciplinary issues were two incidents this season, but as far as I'm aware, no priors for Wolves or any of his previous clubs. But some of our best ever players played on the edge: Rooney, Keane, Cantona, Hughes, Vidic, Scholes... And we had plenty of other very good players who fit that mould like Heinze, Butt, Smith. Even the likes of the Neville's & Beckham weren't averse to picking up cards. So I don't really mind if Cunha has that streak in him.
Whenever I've watched Cunha I've always thought he was pretty hard working, so I wonder how these walking stats compare to his previous seasons and whether this is essentially him being given free reign to drift and stay a little higher up the pitch to be a threat on the counter for a team low down in the league trying to optimise their best attacking weapon...
In any case, we're not going to be able to find the absolute perfect player who ticks every single box in terms of profile but who is also PL proven, a genuinely top class player, available and fits the wage structure.
What Cunha will do is help us move the needle along a bit. He's better than all of our other most natural fits for the LF/RF/CF roles, he improves our physical & athletic ceiling and he'll also get people off their seats. Add Delep to that and we've suddenly got two very powerful ball carriers in the attacking positions who along with Amad can give us (hopefully!) something quite exciting to watch.
So many PL proven attackers better than what we have at clubs you wouldn’t think should ever have better forwards than us considering what we’ve spent. Mbeumo another one that would walk into our side.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blimey, has nobody at Wolves thought to tell him you're not allowed to do that?
One contributor to the podcast spoke about watching Strand Larsen running back past Cunha to tackle back, which obviously, we couldn’t have happening.
Then there’s the disciplinary stuff, the fallout with O’Neal, the social media bullshiiiit, etc.
---------
The fact that Simeone shipped him out so soon should add to those concerns too.
Cunha is a player I really like and the best thing about him is that he's PL proven and plays in a very similar formation to what we're trying to create already with Wolves. A lot to like about him really.
10 role:
Cunha / Amad / Bruno / Kobbie / Mount or Zirkzee (Other one sold)
Would still leave us massively short upfront though. If we sign Delap and have Cunha / Zirkzee as the back ups who can both play the false 9 role then I'd be worried about lack of depth.

So many PL proven attackers better than what we have at clubs you wouldn’t think should ever have better forwards than us considering what we’ve spent. Mbeumo another one that would walk into our side.

If we sign Cunha we don't want another lazy player FFS!

Where does he fit into your system?
Striker, behind the striker, from wide, no.10?

He’d play as the left sided ten.
