You wanted to ignore cups in the 1900s. United’s treble is gone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was in the 1990's
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes which is in the 1900s
What problem do you have with that one particular decade?
Looks like both have two trophies in that period. So nothing much changed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't care one way or another, I think the whole thing is daft, but seeing as it gets taken seriously I thought there may be a better way than counting something from 1902.
Or including charity shields etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn’t major trophy count the easiest way which is already what people refer to?
I agree it’s better to apply weighting but you don’t really need to for Liverpool and United who have won multiples of everything and Liverpool are ahead on major trophies and weighting since they’re level on leagues and double on CL/European Cups.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. But it's difficult to get to interested if half of it happened before you were born.
Plus Munich almost certainly had an impact, and whilst I don't know Liverpool's history I'm sure there has been some bad luck along the way, though not as dramatic.
Personally I thing having two wonderful clubs so close to getter in the NW is great.

📊 Winner: Manchester United by 619 points! ⚽🏆
*The points for each trophy were calculated by multiplying the trophy's point value (e.g., Premier League = 5 points) by the year it was won, with total points summing up for each club."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apple AI gave Liverpool 15 FA Cups. There’s clearly a pro-Liverpool agenda amongst robots.
To calculate the points for trophies won by Liverpool and Manchester United using the specified points system, we first need to know the total number of each type of trophy won by each club.
### Liverpool's Trophies:
- UEFA Champions League (CL) titles: 6
- League titles: 19
- FA Cup wins: 15
- UEFA Europa League wins: 3
- League Cup wins: 9
### Manchester United's Trophies:
- UEFA Champions League (CL) titles: 3
- League titles: 20
- FA Cup wins: 12
- UEFA Europa League wins: 1
- League Cup wins: 6
### Points Calculation:
**Liverpool:**
- CL wins: 6 × 5 = 30 points
- League titles: 19 × 4 = 76 points
- FA Cup wins: 15 × 3 = 45 points
- Europa wins: 3 × 3 = 9 points
- League Cup wins: 9 × 2 = 18 points
**Total for Liverpool:**
30 + 76 + 45 + 9 + 18 = **178 points**
---
**Manchester United:**
- CL wins: 3 × 5 = 15 points
- League titles: 20 × 4 = 80 points
- FA Cup wins: 12 × 3 = 36 points
- Europa wins: 1 × 3 = 3 points
- League Cup wins: 6 × 2 = 12 points
**Total for Manchester United:**
15 + 80 + 36 + 3 + 12 = **146 points**
### Summary:
- **Liverpool:** 178 points
- **Manchester United:** 146 points
Liverpool has a total of 178 points, while Manchester United has 146 points based on the points system provided.
I have United edging the dips due to them fuc&ers getting all our clubs banned from European competition for five years.
Also, because I can, I am awarding us five European Cups that we would have won had most of our team not died in Munich.

It's incredible that there has never been a title race between Man U and Liverpool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think on 5 occasions in the top league have Utd and Liverpool finished in the top 2 spots
Winning the FA Cup in the 50s 60s 70s and 80s when the FA Cup was the most valued trophy in English football (by a mile) is a much bigger acheivement than winning the FA Cup in any year from the 1990s and onwards when it was devalued by the PL.

I can understand your second point. On the first point English clubs were banned due to the hooliganism from English club fans. Liverpool were banned longer as this caused deaths. They can’t ban other clubs due to the actions of one club. That’s ridiculous. Also it seems to be forgotten that the English FA banned all its clubs before UEFA had made any judgement.
FA Secretary Ted Croker said: "There are many of us who don't want to see us back in Europe until we have got our own house in order."
This was all designed so that English football would tackle the issue, which it did.

League titles before the passback rule was introduced and European cups before the Champions League format was introduced should be worth less, for obvious reasons.
I’d put European Cup pre 1990 on a par with the Carabao Cup.

Nevermind we're all wrong sometimes
You need to separate league title wins into 2 categories.
PL titles and Football League titles.
PL titles should be worth more than Football League titles.
Being Football League Champions is a lesser achievement than being PL champions as you have to get relegated from the PL in order to win the Football League.

Well you'd be wrong,
League titles before PL were harder to win as mostly there were 24 teams.
PL started with 22 teams and was further reduced to make it easier for Utd to win it. Which should make those wins worth 2 points.
Also, European Cup was harder to win as the only teams allowed to play init were the champions of their respective leagues. Which should make those wins wins worth 10 points.
