Haven't been to an abroad match for some years... I once went to see Maritimo, at their ground then in the Portuguese 2nd division (I think) whilst in Madeira on holiday.

I was about 10 or 11 I think I had a great time, game was 3-1, had the loud speaker with a fella shouting a long 'gooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal' really good atmosphere...

my Dad and me went regular to ER over that period and yes, thinking back, a noticeable difference.. its felt almost none league compared.

I do plan to see Ajax at some point whilst in Holland, my missus uncle lives just outside Amsterdam, having price is way over a hundred Euros, which was a surprise to be honest

Over the last ten years I have been with my son to football matches in Italy - Roma, Juventus and AC Milan; Greece- AEK Athens and Germany- Hamburg, Wolfsburg and Dortmund. All the games were highly enjoyable, as were the atmospheres, but I would say the overall experience was the best in the Bundesliga. The chanting, ticket and refreshment pricing and facilities were exceptional. Currently I am living in Tokyo and I have been to watch the Urawa Red Diamonds and Tokyo FC, the tickets were around 18 pounds each, the crowds were around 25,000, the food and drinks were very cheap and very good and the atmospheres were great, the only downside is the quality of the football, I would put it at lower championship level.

Went to watch Hertha v Bayern in the Olympic stadium about 20 years ago was E20 a ticket, fan zone with plenty going on, food and drink readily available, announcer was a bit of a cheerleader, would say it was a decent experience from what i remember.

Update on what ive been told re:transfers, will spend what we can but it wont be fortunes due to the regulations, Keeper from Germany still on the radar but attention switched to one of Brentfords keepers and we are trying for a Brazilian from Fulham Muniz, talking to them and getting them are two different matters but we arent sitting on our hands doing nothing.

Was in Madeira for a match in February. We are not allowed alcohol at football in Scotland and my dad had been boasting every year he went to a match in Madeira, posting a photo of his pint in hand watching the match. So when I went over with him in February I was all excited to finally have a beer at the match.

I got two pints/500ml each for us to take to the seats.

It wasn't until halfway through the first pint that I realised. ALCOHOL FREE. Ffs the father hadn't even realised the many years he had been coming the it wasn't actual beer.

So it was a very disappointing experience. Nice stadium though.

And dont be put off going to these places, the football, is the reason for us to go, but really only a small part of it.

Thought turin was a nicer city than milan too.

yeah True, I did have a short tour around Barcelona's ground about ten years ago, not to see a game.. was "more oh whist we're here"... was impressed with stadium size / layout etc .. not so much the tour its self tbf ... all a bit Messi heavy at the time.. clearly you'd make a fuss of Messi if he was your player but thought it was a bit top heavy

I did the Milan Derby a few years ago.

Loved it, really loud, good access to stadium, bit strange the fans all mingling before and after the game. seats were great and I love the stadium. its my favourite stadium of all time and I went through fear of it being demolished and not getting the chance.

Was the first derby of the season since Milan won the league and their TIFO was amazing.

Atmosphere as I said was loud but comparing to Old Firms defo less intimidating and less tension in the game.

As was said the food around the stadium was excellent.

B Loved it but disappointed that it was so friendly I was really hoping for a hotbed atmosphere.

Stadium tour was good but biased cos I loved the stadium . its shocking however that the museum tour (where all the trophies are kept) is separate and on the other end of the city

Yeah we booked it just before they announced they arent knocking it down, and was one reason we picked it this year. Hamburg next year.

It is very impressive from outside, maybe because its so different.

Same as you, was very surprised it was so tame, no edge at all, you hear about the reputation of the Ultras, and its completely different, bit hard to explain really.

I'll be doing HSV next season also, gonna get tickets for the St Pauli game @ Volkparkstadion.

Been waiting years to get that derby in the top flight no way am I missing it.

Hamburg and Rangers are best buds and I have a couple guys that should be able to get me tickets (so they claim)

Second this. A rare genuinely interesting read on here.

Went to a game in Iceland, where every game is a local derby because they're almost all based in Reykjavik. We were sat next to a guy who was banging a drum for a crowd of maybe 1000, 2000. Guy next to him had a tambourine. Lasting memory is that at every corner they would in unison start doing the Match of the Day theme exclusively with the syllable doo.

I worked in Turin for a bit and used to go to see Juventus when I could. Atmosphere was good and I loved the vendors with baskets who came through the crowd selling food and drink. Not like the overpriced crap and long queues we have. Best fun was in winter when there was a lot of snow about - when the ref and linos walked onto the pitch they were greeted by volley after volley of snowballs.

Oh, and me and my dad went to watch Barcelona vs Real Madrid at the Camp Nou once. Lasting memory of the day is that our tickets were nicked on the train. We went to the stadium, and after much pleading, they eventually let us in. Our seats were much better, right on the half-way line, leg room you could have had a picnic in, and we got to watch a helluva game. Barca won 3-2, but it was at the peak of both their recent teams, touchline shenanigans, fights on the pitch. Great fun in the end.

Went to a few games in Germany when i was working there a long time ago. Schalke and Borussia Dortmund grounds. Thought stadiums were okay but atmosphere was a bit flat. Both were playing teams who they had no massive rivalry with tho.

Italy is beautiful. Been everywhere. Milan is definitely one of the worst cities there i think. Florence was my favourite big city and i love Sicily and the lakes.

In Rome on a 10 day visit went to the Olympic
Stadium, Lazio v Parma…take in watching
Paul Gascogne…he’s not playing, injured!

What a boring game, 0 - 0
That’s it…nothing to see here!

Ps…Florence my favourite Italian city!
