Up until Garnachos lates t tantrum I was against us selling him.
He is one of the very few players we have capable of getting the crowd off their seat.
However, this sense of entitlement that we have seen from this current generation has no place in any sport.
He is a bad apple and needs to be shifted on.
That said, it was criminal that Mount started ahead of him in the Europa Final.
Another summer with a manager who should be sacked being given the transfer budget.
A poor start and it's groundhog day again.
I'd rather we don't sell him as i think one day it could all click and he'll become a top player.
However if his attitude is wrong it may be best to part ways if we can get good money.
There are of course differing views on the manager.
But once the decision is made to keep him, then of course you have to back him, so that means Garnacho goes.
Sometimes it doesn't work out for a player at a certain club, and they move and things improve for them. So let's just hope we get as big a fee as possible.
Whilst I feel he will look better elsewhere, he just doesn't fit into what we really want.
Tbh, I'm not convinced by Mount either, but we'll wait and see what happens next season
There are a bunch of factors with Garnacho which I guess have cumulatively led to this: the (granted, relatively limited) disciplinary issues; the problems with his family members’ comments and interference; his performances this season; the unsuitability of his game to a starting role in an Amorimball side, and the fact that he no doubt wouldn’t accept being a bench option; and being able to book effectively his entire transfer fee, which should be substantial, as profit for PSR purposes.
I don’t think anyone will be particularly excited about him leaving. But on balance, it seems like a fairly sensible decision given all of the above and the fact that it really is beyond time that we moved away from transition-dependent football.
I keep going backwards and forwards on this all the time. Really unsure whether we should sell or keep.
Just have this little niggling feeling in back of my mind that we can't possibly just have a team of brats (Sancho, Rashford Garnacho). Ronaldo, Alexis Sanchez, Di Maria all had a hissy fit when they left too and plenty others have too.
Are we just unlucky or has the complete and utter failure of the club played a part in all this?
Pretty much agree with everything that has been said on here. Will be a bit sad to see him go and he could well develop into an excellent player, but you have to back the manager.
I don’t think Amorim is good enough but he could surprise us all. Scoring goals is a huge issue for us so his job will depend on how well Cunha and other signings do next season or he’ll be gone before Christmas
Perhaps he’ll last the season next year and be replaced by Poch who will have taken the USA to a brave semi final spot in the World Cup only to lose to Tuchels England in a tense 7-0 loss
Amorim was never going to be good enough without a war chest and time to work on his new system. Anyone thinking he could turn what we had into a good team for his own system is naive to say the least.
My only worry is will he get the time to see this through like Arteta did. I hope he does as long as we can afford the rebuild. If we can't and we're going to be penny pinching again then it makes it a lot trickier.
I think it’s right to move him on, there’s a talent there but he is very frustrating to watch and more importantly he just seems to carry unnecessary baggage that the club don’t need right now. There were strong rumours his brother was the one leaking out starting XIs, if true it’s just another hindrance we don’t need. Let’s hope we can get a good fee of around £50-60m.
Also, it’s not like he rose through the ranks as a kid, we bought him for 400k from Atletico at 16 years old.
Apparently Amorim has just spoken to press ahead of these daft post season friendlies and said there isn't a great deal we can do in this upcoming window.
He could be playing the game I suppose and trying to put the word out that we are completely broke so we don't get ripped off on deals. However if there's any truth to it then he won't last the season I don't think.
Also if true then spending £62m on Cunha seems mental to me considering we have several good players who can play that number 10 role already and not a single top ST or GK. That's where the money needs spending most urgently.
A season with Bruno n Amad as the main number 10's with likes of Mount and Zirkzee as backups isn't the end of the world as long as we had a top number 9 they could feed.
Going to be a very interesting summer for us.
When you consider that Garnacho will command a transfer fee that will mostly cover the cost of signing Cunha, and that someone like Rashford's fee would largely cover the cost of someone like Mbeumo, it's hard to make a case with sticking with Garnacho in light of all the other considerations laid out in this thread already.
The problem I think we're going to have this summer is that player sales will have to happen first before we can move on multiple targets. There's probably only enough money available for 1 maybe 2 deals before player sales are taken into account.
You can see the Rashford saga dragging on until August again and probably will go on loan.
If Chelsea return Sancho for the £5m release fee then again it will be back to Dortmund on loan or something like that.
Huge huge problems ahead if we can't shift these players out. Loans won't help much really except saving on wages.

Its going to be interesting to see what he does with Bruno. Is he hoping to play him deeper, or still as a number 10?
Cunha, Bruno and Amad all have to be starting in our strongest team for me. So where do they all fit in? Is Amad at wing back? And what if we also sign Mbeumo? So many questions.

Got a feeling that Chelsea will sign Osimhen.
I reckon we're starting fast with transfers with the kitty we currently have which reports are saying can cover up to a Cunha and a Delap. After that I'd image any purchases will be reliant on who we can sell.
Problem is whenever we want to sell buying clubs drag out the transfer leaving us with little time to buy anyone ourselves. I'm still highly skeptical that we will be able to sell Rashford, Sancho, Antony and Casemiro this summer for varying reasons. Hopefully Garnacho with his lower wages and age will be a far easier sale.
Osimhen doesn't really fit the current Chelsea profile, maybe 5 years ago he would have. I think they'll be looking at players like Delap, Mbeumo, Sesko and Ekitike who fit their profile.
A few clubs are going to be after strikers this summer, unfortunately we won't be battling it out for the highest quality ones.
