Salems lot was a decent adaptation

Agree 100% on the dark tower. A brilliant story and the movie is 💩

Misery was good.

Misery was very good. One of the series of Castle Rock was based on a younger Annie Wilkes.

Was going to watch the new version recently, and now can't remember if I did or not.

Carrie, Misery and The Dead Zone were all good film adaptations of King’s books.

Was just looking at The Dead Zone. Can't remember if I have watched it before so might watch tonight (film, not TV series)
There is a Carrie TV series upcoming, after the remake of a few years ago... the remake didn't come close to the original but hopefully the series will be good.

First attempt or second? The Fred Gwynne version where the dead kid is the younger Gage rather than the big sister (as per the novel) was better imo.

Blackpole 👍

The book was great! I’ll see if I can find the film somewhere.

I think Pet Sematary was the first King novel i read, when I was about 7. It was either that or Cujo.

The first one

The creepy sister still freaks me out (Zelda)

Still liked the 2nd effort as well though

Already mentioned but Misery was a great film.

Shawshank Redemption.
Excellent, and beautifully cast.

TBF I never like horror films. I always find myself thinking how stupid the victims are, and how boring the film is.

A lot of Kings works are super-natural rather than horror. The "stupid victims" is more slasher movie tbf.
Although there are certainly stupid victims across Kings work as well.

11.22.63 is one of my favourite novels. While the miniseries was good, the change to the ending (when Jake and Sadie dance) fundamentally misunderstands their relationship and what the book was conveying.

SPOILERS AHEAD

In the book, Sadie is killed by Lee Harvey Oswald. When Jake goes back to the present to see how his saving of JFK changed the world, he finds a world on the brink of destruction. He goes back in time and then comes back in to the present, resetting all the previous changes. This also means Sadie has technically never met him and doesn’t know who he is. Jake goes to an event honouring Sadie who is now an old woman. He asks her to dance and she says she’s sure they’ve met before.

In the show, Jake meets Sadie again before going back through the rabbit hole in to the present, so when she says she’s sure they’ve met before, they actually have. It completely diminishes the meaning of that being said in the book, which is that their love is so strong that it traverses realities and time strings.

I also wasn’t completely convinced by James Franco’s casting.

I remember watching the lawnmower man at the cinema. Not one of King's best but quite apt in today's world.

Based on the film adaptations of his I've seen, I'd have to rank them:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Shining
The Green Mile
Stand By Me
Misery
It
Doctor Sleep
Christine
The Mist
Carrie
It: Chapter 2
The Dead Zone
The Running Man
Silver Bullet
1408
Needful Things
Secret Window
Cujo
Dreamcatcher

Ive read a lot of King but I've never rated the dark tower series. Just thought it was nonsense. I can't quite remember how many of the books I read before I gave up, but I think 3 or 4.

Same, rarely watch any horror stuff. Tedious and crap for the most part and totally unbelievable.

Horror doesn't scare me at all in truth. I enjoy them but not for the scares. Just for some escapism.

I think the film which scared me the most was Signs. Not meant to be particularly scary but the alien appearing in the backstreets in Brazil is creepy as anything IMO.

Did someone really just write horror movies are "unbelievable" ?? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There was me believing evil killers could possess dolls and continue their murderous ways and paedos can come back to life in dreams and really kill people.
I feel stupid for quitting my job at the laundry now, I guess the mangler isn't possessed by a demon and won't suddenly start eating people after all.

The aliens ceased being scary once you realise by the end you could take them out with water pistols.
