I think its a big fee for an unproven player. His goal record last season in a sub par league wasn't impressive either.

However we are fast approaching the part of the window when there isnt much choice left.

Not ideal situarion really.

I wont pretend to know much about Sesko, but it seems like another huge gamble.. Not sure he's any kind of upgrade on Hojlund?

I'd rather blast cash on Watkins and have a front three that knows where the goal is in the actual league we play in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Although I don’t necessarily disagree (although I’m not all that keen on Watkins either), Hojlund’s issue at the business end isn’t that he doesn’t know where the goal is; it’s more that he doesn’t know where the ball is.

I’d be leaning more towards Watkins if we’d not already signed Cunha and Mbeumo, who both know where the goal is in this league and feel ‘safer’ bets to succeed.

Šeško does excite me though from what I’ve seen, and his age as well as aerial potential too and the fact he can and should obviously improve still.

Would still be happy with Watkins but don’t think that’s a deal that could/would be done tbh.

Can people provide reasons as to why you're excited about this potential signing?
Extortionate fee. Unproven, massive beanpole, average in a worse league ......

Sound familiar?

I'm all for being optimistic, but you have to take into consideration that extreme optimism more often than not equals extreme insanity.

Going through this thread it doesn’t sound like anyone wants this player for the fee’s being touted. Based on form that normally means United are about to go all in and offer a British record fee for him!

Jokes aside CF isn’t now as much priority due to the other two signed(still a concern) if he was some generational talent I’d say go all in but he’s probably not even the best player in his team.
A few seasons ago he was rated very highly but seems to have dropped off.

I’d much rather United get a Shaw & Onana replacement ASAP both of them are beyond shocking and shouldn’t be anywhere near the club.

Yes. A new keeper should've been right at the top of the list of priorities.

Based on the last 2-3 articles on this Sesko geeza it seems many of our fans rate this guy highly and want him. bonkers to me

There’s no way we should be paying that much for him.

Go for Watkins. PL proven goal scorer,

Isak scored 6 goals in La Liga the season before Newcastle paid £60m for him. Can only imagine what people would've been saying about that at the time if it were us - but to anyone who'd watched Isak, the potential was clearly there.

And whoever gets Sesko will obviously be paying for potential - but there's nothing unusual about that. The only other concrete option we have is to pay £40-50m for a 29-year-old who will presumably be on pretty big wages.

Won't claim to have seen much of Sesko other than a few games in the CL, but he looks a good player. The Hojlund comparisons end with their age for me. Sesko just looks like a better footballer.

I’d still take a punt on Vardy. Not as our main new striker, but for his experience and as a back up, sure.

If Vardy came, you'd have to accept his Mrs as well.

The club has been fighting a losing battle against leaks from inside for years. We don't need to add to the problem.

Villa arent going to sell Watkins to us this late in the window unless its for a ridiculous amount. Its a non starter.

Alls not well between emery and Watkins apparently

A swap deal involving Garnacho could be one option

Would prefer Watkins.

Really struggle to see Watkins coming to United unless we massively overpay for him.

When there was a chance he could have gone to Arsenal in the Jan transfer window it was apparently all instigated by Villa actively looking to offload him rather than Duran.

Listening to Andy Mitten and he said sesko has been on utds radar for a few years now and was the main target last summer. Like most utd fans I haven't seen a whole lot of him other than the last euro finals when he did impress me I have to say.

It's a lot of money and we haven't had much success with players coming from the bundesliga. Knowing our luck he'll turn out to be a donkey

I think recent signings like Yoro, Dorgu, Heaven, Cunha, Mbeumo and obviously Amad being brought back into favour following Ten Hags tenure are all players that will translate well into Amorims plans, so hopefully Šeško if it happens is another one.

“…this late in the window…”

It’s open for another month, ffs

Most clubs won’t have done most of their business yet.
