Wha5 have we lost? A shot at 100k which we wouldn't get anywhere near because teams like Crawley and Salford are too hard for us when we rotate?
Embarrassing by all means, but losing playoff/cup finals and getting relegated are worser results. Derby at ER innthe playoffs was worse than last night.
With respect you are missing the point,we lost to kids
And football is about winning trophies surely?
Too many appear to lose sight of that
We can concentrate on staying up now. We weren't winning the fizzy pop cup. Beat Newcastle and last night will be quickly forgotten about. We actually drew the match 1-1 so we didn't lose the match, just lost the tie due to poor recruitment/management. Piroe should have been subbed off not Nmecha and the other two were poor meh signings because we can't attract quality atm.

I still give them some credit they went through but it was hugely embarrassing for Kairat to be taken to penalties by them.

bit of a shambles, but lets all move on it is what it is... can;t change it now.. 3 points vs Newcastle and it will be fine
Lost to Colchester and Sunderland when we were probably the best team in Europe, Lost to Chester when we were champions and Histon was a grim old day, throw in a few of the cup defeats in the last ten years.

Yep - a massive dose of perspective is needed here. I think any scenario and outcome last night, some would spin to the negative.
- win big with first team (putting players at risk of injury before a PL game)
- win big with the reserves (it was only against kids)
- win with first team (should have been more v kids plus the injury chances)
- win with reserves ( it was only kids, too many changes)
- lose with first team ( sack Farke)
- lose with reserves (we have seen the reaction)
We are relegation favourites. We only can attract the players that the other PL teams don’t want or need. We have an average squad. Our survival story lies with home games v the lower half of the table teams.
Any points v Newcastle and we are ahead of the 1pt per game average needed.
That’s my take.

Good points made Infiniteone – and I agree that this is nowhere near the biggest defeat in our history. Many forget the real shockers we've had – our history is littered with them – and if we get a result against Newcastle, this will be all but forgotten, too, and Farke will no longer be the villain. But I do agree that he just does not inspire confidence – I can't imagine him bawling out the players in the dressing room when sometimes that's exactly what's needed. I think the board should have had the bottle to replace him at the end of the season – but they didn't, so at least let's give the guy a decent run to see how he's looking by, say, November time.

Biggest defeat? Or most humbling?
I can guarantee it wasn’t the biggest as that was 8-1 v Stoke in 1934 (some of the posters on here may remember that one 😂)…..
But let’s face it ,our reserves, who have all just arrived at the club, lost a game they should have won. That’s it.
Move on to Saturday. I can guarantee most people would say they couldn’t care less about the League Cup anyway.
