I reckon that side tonight that started doesn't get beat 5 nil against Arsenal whatever Farke says about he wouldn't have changed anything if he could replay that game...2 or 3 nil at the very worst even with that late dodgy soft pen.

If Farke can get Harrison playing, in relation to creating opportunities, as well as G & A's, it might just say something about his coaching ability relative to Moyes, for example. It might just help shut up some of those Farke out idiots like Promotion.

Agree, Els, you can see why Farke rates him. His ball for DCL deserved a goal and his work-rate was immense. If you are looking for a player to hold your position in a game, Harrison is a good option. And you can understand why Farke can't play a Ramizani. He would be a game changer...at both ends.

And considering Ampadu and Tanaka were out, that was a very satisfying performance. Well done Farke and the boys.

Not convinced by Farke at all. But, today was really
good. That was a good Newcastle team despite them
lacking several top players. I thought we were very
good and well worth the valuable point. Happy here.

Very pleased with a hard earned point today. Similar to Everton in that there's a lot of good stuff about the base of the team, and suggests we have what it takes to grind out results. Just need a creative 10 to play off Nmecha or DCL.

Longstaff my MotM today. Good shouts for Bogle and Gudmundsson though.

I'm pretty sure based on the match day thread that's
what we all agreed upon: a Pablo-esque type and we
could be well within a shout of staying up.

In taxi home after the game and a few more.

Had so much frustration after Arsenal game. Playing Piroe being the biggest. Not playing Longstaff right up there.

We got really lucky today in that Howe got it completely wrong. What was he thinking? How did he not play 4-3-3 with Elanga and Barnes either side of the lad up top.

Allowed our midfield and full backs up the pitch to make it difficult for them. Our defence was left with very little to worry about.

The change from Piroe to Nmecha was exactly as I expected. It was huge. How Farke started Piroe against Arsenal I have no idea.

Longstaff should have played against Arsenal ahead of Gruev but Gruev did his job today. Really limited but fine. He’s obviously not good enough long term but we’ve just been promoted and if we have to use then so be it. It’s ugly I know but it’s life.

Harrison needs to be forgiven asap. He’s a big positive to have in the bench as a bottom 6 club.

Aaronson not so much.

Perri is the only Brazilian in the world that can’t kick a ball. But he can catch one and throw it. I think we need to go
Back to Nigel Martyn idea of Goal Keeping for a while. Not as bad as Lukic. If we could have Martyn back now I would be delighted though.

James was limited again. He always will be at this level and obvious why the club would look for someone to play the Tanaka role and or the RW. If our first choice AM LW & RW is 3 out of Okafor, Gnonto, Tabaka, El Kahannouss we can be content. Hopefully Okafor proves to be that player. Harrison and James as subs is exceptional.

Farke brought in Nmecha & Longstaff and benefited massively. Also Howe got it hopelessly wrong. Longstaff wasn’t necessarily through choice. I’m still freaking out that Farke didn’t play Nmecha against Arsenal but as I have said previously hopefully there was an underlying cause and that’s why.

Great performance. Great point. I’m freaking delighted.

Elanga carrying a knock apparently. They were only planning to use him at all if they had to.

Has to be the only reason. I assume similar for Barnes.

We were very fortunate if so on top of Gordon, Isak/Replacement, Joelinton.

Also read Jonty’s review. I’m glad his way with words is no longer covering up the fact he doesn’t really understand football and blocks anyone that disagrees with him.

Was looking forward to your thoughts.
Did not disappoint.

Was also surprised Barnes didn't start for Newcastle ad he has always previously caused Leeds no end of problems and has a great scoring record against us too which if he wasn't 100% fit then I can understand Howe leaving him out but if was fit then I think that was a strange decision and Barnes in a Leeds side would certainly make us a lot more dangerous....wonder what he'd cost?

Suspect he wanted the extra cover of Livramento for the legs of Dan Burn up against the overlapping runs of Bogle.

This was the result we needed to steady the ship after the Arsenal debacle. A bit like that 0-0 against the Baggies after our slow start last season. Does anyone else feel we are beginning to see the shape of the team? Gudmondsen, Bogle, Longstaff and DCL, they were the first shoots of Spring in a Winter garden, with the promise of more to come.

Morning all🌞.

Very pleased with that performance and of course the point. Very well deserved from everyone at LUFC. 4 points from 3 games will do us very nicely this season if we can keep that up.

Belated thanks for the MDT Earl and go well all👍.
