Because it’s decided by the individual league.

They moved the deadline forward here to 7pm just because they can, for example.

I know we moved the close time to 7pm for better working conditions (or some such nonsense).

What I'm talking about is allowing leagues under the UEFA 'umbrella' being allowed to have different start/end dates. A couple of hours here or there doesn't really affect the status-quo BUT 10/12 days is taking the ρiss.

Not sure it makes any difference tbh. In fact I’d have thought most clubs are club to be able to shift a few players to Turkey after our deadline, seems to happen a lot anyway.

Most clubs are glad*

Window should open at the end of the season imo. That way the window can be closed when the season starts. Its ridiculous how many players miss games due to having there heads turned 1-2 games into a new season. Open it earlier and shut it Thursday before the season starts.

Far too logical to have it like this

It's also a problem with league start dates.

Dutch & Portuguese 8th Aug
English, French & Spanish 15th Aug
German 22nd Aug
Italy 23rd Aug

Just why??

most likely broadcasting

Not sure that's a valid reason as the major broadcasters already get to choose what dates / times the most popular matches for any particular league are played to maximise revenues.

Some have less games, others have winter breaks.

for eg Sky hold the rights to many countries (we dont tend to get their football but they defo do get UK football and its gets plenty of viewers. Im guessing they dont want one of the busiest periods of the calender (every tunes into the first games) for football to be overlapping, better to have the games 3/4/5 games into the season sharing kick off times than the 1st games of the season.

9/10 when it comes to fixture dates and kick offs these are determined by the broadcaster who tell the governing body.

I'm sure that is a part of it - but more likely just different FA's making decisions based on their different sized leagues and in no small part, trying to avoid the coldest months in some cases, and the hottest in others.

They shut in before the season started in 2018. God knows why they went back to shutting it in September again.

Oh and now the window is closed here but Utd. still get the chance to offload Onana to a Saudi club. That shouldn't be allowed.

If you can't move a player on during the window, between seasons, then you should have to keep them until the next window.
