This win was based on organisation - defending from all points of the pitch. Not pretty and our lack of any sustained possession, particularly in the first half, was of concern but I told myself that I would take it if we could win by 1-0.

For all WBA's possession there was no real sustained threat to our goal with our back three (Sanderson, Fozzie and Clarke) all outstanding; Clarke in particular who was my MOM - right back to his best.

CM and BBD had so little to feed off and it was only when Adgemang came on that things started to change. Early days but this was a really encouraging debut full of pace and strength and for the first time WBA's central defenders were looking worried.

Weimann took his goal really well but this was a team performance in the end with no real stars apart from the three centre backs and our man from Charlotte.
