Getting to the point where we'd be fortunate to convince either to come. I suppose theyd get a fairly nice pay rise though so probably would consider it.
We are only 2pts off City and 4 behind Europe. If we are going to change manager again it needs to be done before European football is out of reach. That was the mistake last season. We waited till GW10 when the league season was already dead.

Ireola / Glasner / similar would bite your hand off if they were offered the role.
As fans of the club, we are so embroiled with everything that is happening here, it can sometimes be difficult to imagine what attracts certain managers to a club. But we still spend big compared to 99% of other clubs, still have a massive fanbase etc etc.
Not many clubs offer that, all managers have egos, and of course they all want to be the one that lifts Utd out of the doldrums.
Every loss, even away to City, builds pressure on Amorim. The most disappointing thing for me is that it was a comfortable win for City without them having to do much. We had a decent amount of possession but still lack killer instinct. the very least we should be doing is making the big teams have to fight for getting 3 points against us.
I'm really not sure what I feel about Amorim right now. What use to be the shock of losing games has now been replaced by a sad acceptance of where we are

They would definitely go to United. Its still Manchester United and it surely would have been their dream once upon a time to manage them. Just need to be decisive and go full out and get one of them. Areola first choice , Glasner second.

I don't think the system, in itself, is the issue either. Although, having said that, perhaps now is time to try something a little different. I think the main issue is the team isn't compact enough. Perhaps moving to a 4231 would help with this until we get further players in? It also doesn't help when our wing backs are poor at creating chances.
If we did go 4231 it could well be more square pegs in square holes for this current squad.
Altay (Lammens)
Mazraoui (Dalot)
Yoro (Heaven)
De Ligt (Maguire)
Dorgu (Shaw)
Casemiro (Ugarte)
Mainoo
Mbeumo (Amad)
Bruno (Mount)
Cunha (Zirkzee)
Sesko (Obi)
What the above shows to me is that we're still short in midfield and that we still probably need better full backs. Although, in a back four, the full backs wouldn't be as important in a creative sense.

The issues are bleedingly obvious, but Amorim lacks one thing more than anything else - pragmatism.
It's one thing for a manager to be somewhat stubborn, have certain principles etc, but you need to see the bigger picture. Is it the system or the players? Quite simply, it is both.
Amorim is saying he won't change because he sees it as weakness - what is weakness is being afraid to change, not massively, but to tweak things slightly, especially when you don't have the right players to do what you want. You tweak, and over a number of windows you can change to where you want to be, but you have got to be smart about it, and he's not being very smart right now.
All the pressers and words mean nothing, it's what is happening on the pitch that counts.
We don't have the players we need to play the way he wants - both from the back, and in CM. Just accept it and change it. To do what he wants, we need players in the style of Saliba, VVD, Stones, Chalobah, Romero etc etc who are comfortable stepping up etc. In CM, we need 2 top class operators, like Wharton, Rice, Caciedo etc etc. Even a lower calibre of such players who are comfortable with that.
Right now if Bruno, who I accept is still probably undroppable, is in CM, we always need 2 others in there with him, because defensively he doesn't think like that.
Lets just have a normal back 4 - Shaw is past it, Dorgu, Maz as RB, De Ligt and Yoro.
Sesko needs games - just play him. Mbuemo and Cunha alongside, with Amad as back-up. Cas or Ugarte in behind Mainoo and Bruno. 4-3-3 is so bleedingly obvious, uses our best players in positions they know, and then when we bring in players who are more suited to Amorim's preferred style, we can change.
But you can't just force it, especially with players who aren't suited to it.
Amorim is showing stupidity and not recognising what needs to be done - I fear the job is too big for him, and he just can't cope with what is required.
This team could be a good team in its current state.
It should be getting top 6. It really is on Amorim if he can't do that, and I fear he is getting more caught up on what he is saying, how change seems to be a bad thing (what manager doesn't have a plan B, C or even D, and I just don't mean standard subs) rather than getting results on the pitch.
Such high hopes for him, but I'm probably about 30-70 in terms of him staying right now.

It's come to the point now that not a single pundit, former Utd player / manager or even a fan can say he's unlucky if he gets the boot.
His system has needed tweaking / or even scrapping if you prefer for months and he's refusing to do it.
Simply put.....We don't have the midfield, wingbacks or even a really confident ball playing CB to make his formation work. If he can't see that by now then he's in real trouble.
There's a 15 day break between Sunderland (H) and Liverpool (A)....Be amazed if the club weren't talking to agents and managers in this window tbh. It may already be happening now.

Dont think he would leave the US job so close to their home world cup.
Very much could be lined up to take over after it though but that would require another interim manager which nobody wants.
Personally think we will go for someone from within the PL or possibly Southgate.

Weirdest thing about his stubbornness is I'd argue the most important players in a 3-4-3 system are the 4 in midfield, but you didn't buy a single midfielder in the summer and instead spent tons on the front 3.
Lack of quality aside, the CM's you have don't really suit the system

It's not 3-4-3 though.
It's 5-2-2-1 that switches to a 3-4-2-1.
The wingbacks don't help out the midfield at all and neither do the 10s or the CBs.
Mix that with having midfielders not suited to the position and we're done for against any club.

Football matches are won and lost in midfield. It's a old expression but one that is as true today as it's ever been.
Amorim is starting every game with a man disadvantage in the middle of the pitch. It doesn't take rocket scientist to unearth the big issue.
And because we're a man down there we should have a man advantage elsewhere to compensate but sadly that's in our defence and it isn't stopping us concede goals.
He'll be gone within next few weeks and back on the merry go-round we go.
