Neon, the question is specific to the subcontinent. No one can say England are poor away from home after a 3-1 Ashes victory and a draw in RSA. This issue seems to follow the subcontinental sides around.
Regarding matches between Australia, SA and England, its fair to say the best cricketing side at any given time will usually win the series. The subcontinent is an anomaly in this respect because the difference in conditions is staggering. India have a huge advantage in this respect when playing at home. Its also a weakness because their batsman will struggle away.
There is nothing new about this so until England find a way to deal with this, the only thing we can go on is the ICC rankings. If England find a way to play in these conditions I believe they will be unbeatable, but saying is easier than doing.
