apparently, wenger said we could've signed ronaldo and drogba aswell.
Alonso was on the brink of signing for Arsenal as Benitez was obsessed about bringing Gareth Barry to Liverpool. Villa kept digging their heels in and alas Benitez missed out on Barry meaning Alonso stayed at Liverpool. Would have loved have seem Alonso as a Gooner.
As for player, hmmm, Dean Sturridge the Derby County firebrand was linked and of course, how about Hangeland at centreback?
seriously ska, i actually remember many clubs were in for him during/after the 2006/2007 season. Thankfully (no offence intended) we never got him.
Les Ferdinand was always getting linked to us.
I'm sure Wenger said he tied to sign Messi as a youngster but couldn't get a work permit for him.
I thought of Hangeland too.
Pederson (In his form seasons of 07/08) was a very good player IMO, and I thought we were crying out for him. A proper left footed winger, we were linked with him a few times but it never happened.
We were close to signing Ronaldo and Drogba too (Apparently) but we only found this out recently, I was looking for players that we were linked too for a long period of time.

That's what I was laughing at.
We seem to have been linked with Sebastian Frey almost every year since he was born. Melo is another.
Apparently we could have got Ronaldinho and Messi, So i heard.

I've asked this question in another articles but here's again: Why is it so hard to get a work permit in the UK and not in the rest of the Europe.
My original question was about Joel Campbell.
I still don't understand how he can now play in France but not in the UK???

Our government have far tighter controls on non-EU nationals than many other EU nations.
You (or the company you are coming to work for) have to prove your skills are neccessary in the UK, and that a UK resident is unable to do the job equally as well.
This covers every type of work.
