We could never have played like that before

My first though when the final whistle sounded was 'who needs fabregas and Nasri when you have attacking talent such as Ramsey, Arteta, Gervinho and RVP'

Pundits and non-arsenal fans have all been saying how poor chelsea were defensively. I'm not going to deny that but even United couldn't score 5 past them when they were at Old trafford. No one has done so far and no one else will for the rest of the season.

To score 5 times at the Bridge is special. Let's put it this way, if it was spurs, they would have released a DVD by now and if it was Liverpool, all we would hear from the scousers is 'this year is our year.'

If it was United, we would be hearing 'they are so entertaining now. Cleverley is England's Xavi' and if it was City, cries of 'they are unstoppable' would be hurting our ears.

Everyone just face it, that was one of the best attacking displays you will ever see

Come on if Cesc was in the team yesterday then we would have ran away with it. Our 3-1 win against Chelsea last season was a better performance than yesterday's.

Lucas, I said 'ONE of the best attacking displays' and it's true. If there is ANYONE this season that scored 5 past chelsea, I will create an article announcing to everyone I was wrong.

Agreed

Adventures, defensively yes ofcourse. But going forward, no.

We scored because of two chelsea mistakes and one goal just before halftime after some mayhem in the box.

This attacking performance, without Cesc, was much better. Ramsey played a lot like the spaniard yesterday. Even Cesc would have been proud of some of the passes Ramsey is belting out these days.

Shut up you deluded Arsenal fans. As if Arteta, Gervinho are in the class of Fabregas or Nasri.

Getting carried away with one result. Spurs right now are better than both Arsenal and Liverpool.

I'm not sure about 3-1 being better than yesterday's performance (defensively yes, but attacking-wise definately not). but the point of my article is that we wouldn't have played in this manner with Cesc and Nasri (as good as they are).

so was man u sticking 8 past you lot even better or was it down to some laurel and hardy style defending?
What about man u at city?

I watched the game yesterday and both defences were terrible. both too high and both too open. As neville said at half time, it could have been 4-4

Personally I thought the 8-2 demolishing of your sorry team was a much better attacking display.

Verminator I disagree, last season we controlled the midfield and went forward whenever we felt like. Yesterday was all about counter attacking. It is a different style of play to last season as with Cesc we were far more a possession based team (whereas now we focus more on pace and wing play) but if we had Cesc dictating the play yesterday instead of Ramsey or Arteta (as good as they were) then we would have taken them to the cleaners. Walcott and in particular, Gervinho made a few runs yesterday that were not picked up on because Arteta, Song and Rambo don't have the passing range that Cesc and even Wilshere had.

Just saying, yesterday was a very impressive counter attacking display, apart from our first goal the rest were all counterattacking moves but on another day with Cesc in the team we could have scored more.

Lucas, you are making no sense. I said 'one of' that means United's attacking display was good as well, as was City's at Old trafford.

If you actually watched the game when we played United, it could have been 3-3 at half time as well. Robin missed a penalty and other great chances. Arshavin just after half time missed an amazing chance as well.

The league has been crazy this season. The only performance that has been defensively sound and magnificent going forward is City 6-1 United

yeah but with the likes of jenkinson, coquelin (who i actually quite like, but it was his first ever PL appearance for us) and traore you can see why they mauled us 8-2. we were up against the likes of terry, cole and ivanovic yesterday.

Batmanu, yes maybe your right. The runs you are talking about, I was also screaming at the Tele, wondering why Ramsey did not release Gervinho at one point and Theo on another occasion.

But when they showed the highlights, Ramsey didn't pass because the players were actually offiside. Chelsea were playing such a high line it was unbelievable.

Ofcourse having Cesc now would make us a better team but what I'm saying is Ramsey has been so good this season that we're not missing our ex-talisman as much as we thought we would.

We even scored 2 at Old trafford. I can't remember the last time we did that.

You know going forward you may have a point (although there have been games we desperately missed him like Newcastle or Pool) when you are talking about going forward, but the way Cesc can dictate a midfield and effectively control the match and 60%+ possession limited our opposition to so many chances in the past. It's no coincidence that we have conceded so many goals this season. Less possession = more chances created against us = more goals conceded.

so there is another performance this season in the all time list? You said "one of the best you will ever see" implying it was on a pedestal with a few truly great attacking displays.

'One of the best attacking displays you will see'

I should have added 'this season' and 'in england', because Barca and Madrid produce tons of stunning attacking displays in La Liga against mediocre sides.

But yes, you won't see another side score 5 times at the Bridge for some time

Liverpool go there soon, let's see if they can do it.

Adventures, I don't this him not being in our team has got anything to do with the amount of goals we have conceded. Cesc isn't a Xavi type player. He doesn't play simple passes dozens of times in the space of a minute to keep possession.

I remember he used to lose the ball a few times when trying amazing passes. Xavi plays a risk pass once every 50 passes. Cesc plays it once every 5. If there is anyone who used to help us keep possession, it was Denilson
