Danny Sturridge

No thanks to Young - very overrated and his price is rumoured to be something crazy like 30 million +. we could actually get a decent winger for half that money and a world class winger for all of it.

Also, I dont think 4-4-2 is the future especially without decent wingers. How much of the worlds most successful teams play two up front? Not many at all.

Personally I'd love to see this next season:

----Neymar-----Drogba/Torres-----Sturridge---

Just because there aren't many doesn't mean we can't do it. You play to your teams strengths not what you hope they will be able to do. Now of course you sign players according to what you believe they will be able to do but you don't force it and like we've learn this season especially, we need a plan b.

However, I do like that from line BK. Its a no go for me too as far as Young goes. I hope we can pull in Lukaku as well. Just to have that future.

I'd of taking Young 2-3 seasons ago, he was brilliant, but hasn't reached the same level since.

But i agree with BK and RTM, i don't think we are all that suited to a 4-4-2, in all honestly it probably only worked for us this season because nobody expected us to revert to a 4-4-2 and as such didn't prepare for that.

We need atleast 1 winger to get the best out of Torres, but to also create more for our other attacking players. Could be a make or break transfer season for us, if we don't sign the right players, and with Fair Play coming in, it could be our last window to really set up for the long run.

Seems like we're making the transition smoothly doesn't it?

The latest reply thing is a bit confusing however. Didn't realize you had replied so quickly.

Lol takes a bit of getting used to mate.

I wonder if 606 will stay open? Dosen't seem likely, but strangers thing have happened.

Kaka and Ronaldinho have been axed from the Brazil squad for the matches against Romania and Holland.

Surprised about Kaka, Ganso will probably be brought in to replace him.

Almost like what we were on about before the cut off. Sometimes you have to move a team forward.

If we can sign 4-5 players who are no older than 26, and with Piazon & Wallace in January, then i don't think we will have to dive deep into the transfer market again providing we make probably 1-2 signings every January/Summer (obviously not at the 75M) and aslong as we can probably keep a steady promotion of youth players, then i think we'll be on the right path. But this summer is key.

Anyway, just reading there that Bassong want's to leave Spurs.

Anyone else think if Alex leaves we should go for him? Thought he was excellent at Newcastle and in his first season at Spurs. Only 24 as well.

Completely agree. Big, big summer coming up.

Im so disappointed the Everton match wont be aired in the states. Its going to make the summer seem even longer. Do you know of any streams that will show it?

In a way I hate having to even consider selling our players but we have to understand football is a business as well. The people who want to hold onto our players forever are being unreasonable. Its not as if they wont fall for those new players eventually.

Hmm, as far as youth who do we have in the CB position that might be able to make the step up?

posted on 20/5/11

Exactly.

I remember when Mourinho cleared out players, but the fans took players like Robben & Duff etc straight away.

Drogba being sold would be the worst one for me, i'd take less of a sting to Malouda and that going if we got someone in who's better or at the same level.

And JustinTV might show it, they usually have decent streams. I'll have a check round for you.

I'd probably say Kalas as far as CB's go. Not as sure on Magnay.

Rohan-Ince would probably be the next best bet. Then Chalobah, but he's still a few years away from the first team.

Great, cheers.

I think we need to take that risk with youth a bit more often during the season. Lower league teams in the FA and Carling cup. We have a pretty solid squad and with who we're looking to get, if we were able to make those signings successfully, we should look to a solid rotation with youth players gaining experience. Hopefully we don't have an injury crisis again.

Yeah but i think this time we don't want the club, or us infact, to pin our hopes on the youngsters becoming regulars staight away. Think it was far to much pressure on them this season.

I think the best way to go would to be like, buy 4-5 new players, then get players such as McEachran into the team on a more regular basis. Reduce Ashley Cole after a while to lesser games and then get Bertrand and Van Aanholt in.

It'sa lot of pressure on the youngsters if they have the tag above them that they are replaceing Cole/Lampard etc, when Lampard and Cole are still regulars.

That's exactly what I meant when I said if we're able to make those signings.

One thing i was thinking of, it makes you wonder why Ancelotti hasn't made more signings.

Like in his autobiography he wanted atleast 2 new midfielders at the club, but only signed one.

And then in January he only mentioned David Luiz and said if we didn't get him we wouldn't get any one. But got him and Torres.

Could be that Roman took it into his own hands with Ancelotti's approval on the players, or that Roman thought Carlo might have made more use in the summer, and didn't want January to pass by empty handed.

That's a good point.

I think they saw the option to grab Torres and we took it. 1. To shut the Roman leaving media up and 2. He's been a target and we now had the chance and took it.

We can't deny that Torres is a great player and if he regains his form of old he will be a huge success and its going to feel so great to rub it in all of those wums faces.

Luiz is going to be great. The writing is on the wall. Plus he brings great atmosphere to the locker room. The mood needed to be lightened.

I think Roman will remain with Carlo and I think his signings this January showed he was putting his trust in our first double winner.

posted on 20/5/11

While i hope Roman sticks with Carlo, i hope that Roman takes more charge in this window.

Like iv'e said before, Carlo isn'tone for heavy transfer window activity, never did it at Milan. I think Roman would probably make 4-5 signings, where Ancelotti would only make 1-2.

He's already said the squad don't need big changes, and that's a bit worrying if he thinks next season this squad can win the CL & Prem. I wouldn't say it's past them, but i just don't think Ancelotti would get the right results in terms of the transfer window.

That is a worry. I guess we'll see. Part of supporting a club is having faith they will make the correct decisions. I believe they will. I have no choice.

On the subject of transfers, it looks like the one for that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will go ahead.

Fee of 5M quoted. It's in The Sun this morning, and as bad as they usually are, they've been ok recently.

They had Terry as England captain even before Capello went public with it etc. They've had a few transfer rumours right as well.

Yeah i think the club will make the right choices. Montolivo seems a lot like an Ancelotti target more than an Abramovich once. Hopefully they've drawn up a list together.

I still prefer 4-3-3

Sturridge as backup to Neymar and Torres, or otherwise put on the left
