Soto will be on nothing wages, and adds a different aspect of our defense which his height and strength at the back. He is a good player to have against the likes of Stoke and Blackburn.
what about those penalties which costs us a game or two

Players make mistakes, even our own Gerrard has been known to gift goals to the likes of Chelsea. I know many don't rate Soto, but I feel the guy is a good backup player who can add something different.
To be honest I'm a bit disappointed with this if it's true Perhaps he adds an important ingredient in the dressing room, because in terms of his age and level of performance, I'm somewhat underwhelmed by Soto.
The pluses that he brings to the team are far out weighed by the minuses that he gives us. Whilst he is big at powerful and is useful against Stoke and Blackburn, he gets raped on a regular basis by quick, agile forwards and there are plenty of those players in the prem!!!!!
And here is a link to the players that have been released!

Think about he's decent enough to be a 5th choice cb with Carragher, Skrtel, Agger and maybe Dann he's just a squad player who won't play much but at least when called upon he'll be able to do a job when other defenders need a rest.
I don't think it is a good decision. It only causes some of the younger players, to miss out on valuable experience, some of which are as good, if not better than he is already. Yes he is good in the air and strong in the tackle, but he turns like a bus and struggles with quick players.
I see the point made about playing against the likes of Blackburn and Stoke, however I don't think that is enough to keep him in the squad.
I'm not overly miffed, as said above he offers that height which we're severely missing from our side, he'll be on buttons anyway and we wouldn't have got any re-sale value from him anyway. He's not going to be playing week in week out so I don't have a problem at all.
On the upside it might mean that Kenny's decided to get rid of Skrtel! Oh praise Buddha, could it really be true?
I like Soto. 12 months is fine
I'm surprised we released Irwin. He wore the armband recently.
When he plays you fear the worst. He was made to look shocking by some very average players last season
Not much wrong with Soto. He is what he is.
He is one of those players who seems capable of dropping a ballack in any game. In one game he might score a towering header, in the next he's being turned inside out by his own ponytail.
He's an experienced player and with our young squad I can pehaps see the logic in keeping him on, as long as it doesn;t hinder the progression of the youngsters.
For example I'm keen to see what Kelly night offer the 1st team at CB. I would be annoyed if Soto was given preference in say a Carling Cup game at the expense of a promising youngster.
It'll only be for while Wilson is on loan I reckon. Then Wilson will come back and Soto will have a swan song in Greece.
Something like that. I've not seen much of Ayala but maybe that is for a reason.
Soto had a few good games when he came in at first last season. As the season went on he became a liability. He gave away penalties and fouls as he gets turned far too easily.
He has obviously played the required number of games for the club, and that has triggered the extension. You can't blame the man for taking advantage of a condition of his contract. I strongly suspect that it merely strengthened his negotiating position when it comes to part company with the club. The look alone on Kenny's face when Soto conceded the penalty away from home against Braga said enough for me to think that, with exception, Soto, bless 'im, has played his last game for LFC. may be very true looking at what happened last seasons i would play him only with 3 CB, a kind of a free role behind the line.
