I believe it was Ranieri who made Terry Captain. he rest just went along with it without rocking the boat. Same for England.

The reason why Terry WAS considered a great leader and captain was because he WAS considered a great player and defender.

That was before Bridge-gate and his two alleged racist comments. He also has gone downhill with his standard of football recently.

For me, a player with his declining skills and questionable moral stance should never be play for england again, let alone captain them.

It's amazing isn't it?

Both JT and Lampard have been the lynchpin of Chelsea sides under managers with an incredible array of trophies and experience. None of whom have felt the need to drop either for a sustained period. And it's not like the money wasn't there to replace them either.

But all the armchair experts still carry on with the 'overrated' rubbish. Football is a game of opinions and I know whose I respect more!

What's so idiotic about it? Terry was captain, Mourinho didn't see fit to change it, or maybe no other worthy candidates, and that's that!

But hey, if i've upset and that's just grand. Morons like yourself are always getting into a hissy fit with me!

No,we only had 5 national Captains and his previous Captain Carvalho.
To say Jose 'went along with it' is as I said the most stupid statement ever.

=============================

Once again, why is that a stupid statement?

Jose Mourinho, a maverick managing a foreign country for the first time comes in and decides to the best way to build up good team ethic and morale is to remove the captaincy from the favoured home captain and give it to a bloke he likes instead?!

Mourinho's whole management style is based on group coordination and team ethics. To build a superior confidence in the team. It's not to slap everyone in the face a say "fock off, i'm the special one, i can do as i please!".

If that still upsets you, all i can say is.....

Trust me,bone heads showing their complete lack of knowledge does not upset me

As has been said,we have the opinion of multi title winning managers and then we have you

Bone Head?!

Is that your response to my reply? I think your knowledge of football is about as sufficient as John Terry's knowledge of race relations!

Like i said, happy to upset morons like yourself!

Just a small thing I'd like to point out.

Jose made JT Captain not Ranieri

Following Desailly's retirement, new Chelsea manager José Mourinho chose Terry as his club captain, a choice which was vindicated throughout the 2004–05 season as Chelsea won the Premier League title in record-breaking fashion with the best defensive record in Football League history with the most clean sheets and the most points accrued
=============================

And since he's been Captian Arsenal have never won the title and now I understand your hatred

No it wasn't. Raneiri made Terry Captain in 2003-04. Then following Desailly's retirement, Mourinho chose the popular option of Terry and made him Club captain.

You read right. Mourinho went along with what was the popular choice at the time.

Bless you! You actually think that Roman's £500m+ spending had nothing to do with it and it was all because of Captain Terry!

Your stupidity is crossing the Liverpool mark!

I dont think that anyone can question Terry as a leader on the pitch. Whether he fully understands the responsibility of a captain off the field is another question.

He isn't for me England captain material. But right now we aren't really spoilt for choice. Lampard is a better option in terms of the person that he is, but I dont think that he is as good a leader as Terry.

Scott Parker would probably be my choice right now, but there is no guarantee that Fabio will play him regularly having overlooked him for years.

At the end of the day, if he wasn't the best choice at some point he'd have lost his armband, and he hasn't. (for club)

Does Mourinho really strike you as someone who would make such a big decision based on popular opinion?

It's in Lampard's book, a few of them basically had to audition for the role before the club flew to the USA for the pre season tour in 2004.

Mourinho could easily chosen any of 3 but clearly saw JT's leadership skills and the rest is history!

Or your understanding of the phrase "Innocent until proven guilty"

Stop all this, Terry is a universal Captain and will captain club and country till he hangs his boots. Capello tried Rio and learnt the hardway.

And of course there are no Arsenal candidates and we've all seen how they buckle year after year under pressure.
