What came out of the club at the time of the transfers was the story that RA called Jose
============================================
Well, in the end, nobody knows for sure, but it’s a widely-held belief that Roman has been the driving force behind one or two of the trophy signings, and the conversation you’ve just quoted is just as speculative (“What came out of the club”…from where?)

But Rob Beasley, the tabloid reporter, is an avid Chelsea fan, and I’ve seen him saying it on TV, too. He may be a bit of a noob, but I would wager that he’s closer to the inside stories at Chelsea than either you or I

Well - there's been some say by one or two that AVB would be better off getting JT out

He might influence the side then

This train of thought may just have some legs....

His confidence has been shot to pieces You can see he's stil got pace but his finishing & decision making has become a bit of a joke. He doesnt know when to shoot or pass or which foot to shoot with or when to make a run or when to hold back. Again, doesnt help when the rest of the team around him are running around like headless chickens .

I think alot of people get hung up about why alot of still talk about Torres. Then again alot of us still talk about Rush, Aldridge, Beardsley, Owen and Fowler.

The lad is rubbish, if he is not sold off immediately avb will be sacked and Chelsea won't make top 4. A big club like Chelsea can't be relying on a moody, overpaid horse with injuries in both knees to lead their attack, it won't work. I have been saying this for ages, he will have a good game today, next 3 games he is useless. Get rid b4 we drop out of top 4 and can't attract decent strikers.

I think we should bring him back on loan. His heart is still at Liverpool. He'll soon be scoring goals once he puts that red shirt back on.

Maybe we can take the Pi-key off you in exchange

He might be more suited to us

Stick him in a 4-2-3-1 and give him a run of matches

He'll be banging them in at better than 1 in 2 once he gets his confidence and no one in his way.

exactly, both comments are speculative, but you ask me who I believe, my sources or Rob "the Noob" Beasley, my sources every time, Beasley is tolerated at HQ because he befriended Frank Lampard and John Terry a long time ago, but they have little to do with him these days, following some speculative reporting a few years ago.

It's like the Torres story, many would have you believe that it was a Roman signing, and was dumped on the manager.
The truth is when CA arrived, RA asked him who would be his big name signing given a choice of possibly available players, CA immediately replied Fernando Torres.

Jose Mourinho would never have kept quiet about RA interfering, it would have been his trump card in the "I am the special one" stakes.

Just think about it for a minute, do you see Jose keeping this quiet

Beasley isnt a noob mate, he is an anchor with a capital W

Avram has given an interview on the BBC today saying Roman does not interfere with player transfers or selections.

Wilkins confirmed the same after being sacked and confirmed that both Torres and Luiz were players Carlo wanted.

I think it is reasonable to speculate that Roman probably pushed for the Shevchenko signing, but the rest is just bollox.

..............

Exceptionally stupid buying players that Carlo wanted and then sacking him.

Well, yes, if it''s in the terms of his severance payment.
But fair enough: usually things that are widely reported have come
from somebody being briefed 'off the record', but occasonally it comes from nothing at all, and turns out to be bollox.

Some great points. I personally think the injuries have taken their toll and have maybe contributed to a loss of pace and acceleration but his biggest problem is lack of confidence and his attitude in general. He just doesn't look to me like he''s enjoying himself. If you can't enjoy picking up tens of thousands of pounds a week for doing something that you (presumably) love doing, something's not right. Maybe I'm just naive and thats a symptom rather than the cause but he needs to get a smile back on his face..

It must also be hard to adjust to being just a member of the squad when he has been used to being the main man for most of your career. Can't do much for the confidence. In one way the price tag should give him confidence but at the moment it looks like a lead weight.

Personally I hope he finds his form again. Just not against us.

I don't think there's anything wrong with him. He was well on the path to rediscover himself before the three game suspension, now he's returned back into a team that's suffering a bad run of form. N it doesn't help that imo he's been miss managed since he returned to the team.

Our best attacking combination in a 4-3-3 is clearly Mata/Torres/Sturridge. Both Sturridge and Torres enjoy Mata's clever distribution and he plays to their movement. But AVB for the past few weeks, for some reason, has been trying to find a way of getting Malouda into this current system. The fantastic element of our team this season is the wealth of combinations (both players and tactics) we have in attack, but the two players that Torres can't seem to gel with are Malouda and Drogba, and i don't know why AVB during a difficult period is experimenting. Anyway, point is, give Torres two of Mata/Sturridge/Anelka with Meireles or Ramires supplying him through the middle, FROM THE START, and he'll happily continue to resurge.

I am not in this love affair with torres. When we bought him I was one of the few that said "WHY". I was more excited about Luiz. We need better forwards stop cuddling torres he has to perform or he has to go. It not like he just came into the league from another league he has been here. Why we are trying to build a team around him, I have no idea. If we are going to fail this year lets fail with the young ones. Josh, Lukaku, Bertrand, Oriol, Daniel, Bruma, Tomas ect. Build the team around the young. I am not a torres fan I am a Chelsea supporter.

Two things wrong IMO:

1. He's lost half a yard of pace, struggled with injury throughout 2010, was hopeless at the world cup. Hamstring injurie are the devil for players that rely on a good turn of pace.

2. Chelsea don't play in a style that suits him. At Liverpool he thrived on through passes from Gerrard playing behind him or Alonso from deep where he could turn, run and finish. He's a player who is great on instinct but not so great when given time on the ball. Chelsea are quite static in their player without any particularly creative midfielders - Torres is having to play with his back to goal which doesn't suit him for the reeasons stated. He needs to play in a side that attack with pace and/or play killer balls through the middle (this is also why he's not great for Spain as their play is all about backs to goal, patient intricate build up).

Combine these two factors and you get a guy who's not quite the physical specimen he was two years ago, is playing in a team that isn't set up around his strengths and consequently he's ended up with a total lack if confidence that's just compounding the issue further. Could end up being the biggest flop in prem history - shame as he's a great striker when utilised properly.

To be honest, I don't think it does.

Everyone has wheeled out this exact argument since Torres signed for Chelsea and didn't start banging them in ten to the dozen.

If everyone on 606 knows this, why do you think that the guy being touted as the best young manager on the planet and getting £150k a week at Chelsea can't figure it out?

Last time I checked Chelsea were ranked 5th in the European rankings. Are you really suggesting that players at this level can't create chances for him at the rate that the Liverpool team could 3-4 years ago? and that their manager can't figure out the best way to play him?

I don't buy it. Yeah Chelsea's midfield is a bit static and yeah, they're going through a bad patch, but they easily have the quality to provide for him. He used to make goals out of nothing - all of a sudden he needs them put on a plate for him?

The fact that he's not starting says a lot. I agree it's a confidence issue, but not because of his hamstring or because he's not being pandered to.

Fairfield i stil maintain its his confidence thats been horribly shot to pieces. how fragile must he be though ? you can see when he does get the ball he doesnt know whether to pass or shoot. hes not as selfish and ruthless as he once was. the shots he does take, he ends up slicing them or going horribly wide

posted on 23/11/11

I agree it's his confidence, but that's not entirely his fault. It's the culture at the club and IMO, poor management.

I kind of discussed this in an earlier post, however I think the cult of John Terry is too prevalent at Chelsea and the idea of the club as a collection of highly paid individuals, rather than a team holds water. They're all too comfortable, too established. It must be an incredibly tough group to join and it seems that Terry's personality is so forceful that the team doesn't contain any other leaders. This isn't the case with say, Man City or Utd, or even Spurs.

The loss of Wilkins as an intermediary between management and players is also clearly a gap that hasn't been filled. Torres needs someone to put an arm around him. I suspect that instead of working out how to score as a team and create for each other, each striker is more interested in getting his own name on the teamsheet.

Lastly, as Leiva la vida Lucas (U2720) pointed out earlier, Chelsea steamroll teams, they don't press high and prey on mistakes. A lot of his goals came from this at Liverpool.

Fairfield you speak so much sense in regards to what's going on at Chelsea. I just can't see anything changing with regards to Terry until atleast next summer.

The way we're playing at the moment and have been playing since last year is slow one paced laboured build up. There's no urgency from our attackers at all to get into the box. Once we do manage to get in the box. The defence have regrouped, making torres's job harder as he's surrounded by defenders. Feel sorry for him to be honest. Your also right about our midfielders and other strikers more interested in getting their names on the teamsheet rather than help out each other. In our double winning season. Drogba lampard kalou malouda and anelka all got into double figures for the season. Sounds silly to say its a bad thing but majority of our team can score so they probably think why lay it off forsomeone when I can get the glory myself. selfishness is good sometimes but not when its to the detriment of the team and right now it is

The only way Torres will come good again is to get him back in an LFC shirt as it's obvious he regrets leaving and it's badly affecting his play
