And the other 37 games?

Dawn, you do realise that we finished nine points ahead of spurs last year, don't you? Even if we drew with you, we still would have finished third ahead of arsenal.

Lol, I havent seen Dawn on the Spurs board for a while.

Is this where you are hiding?

posted on 7/12/11

It was Crouch who clinched it for us the season before and it was Crouch who CLINCHED it for you. There's no escaping it.

Hiding Edin? I was on the Fulham board congratulating them on beating Liverpool. London seems to be doing it against lancashire at the moment.

Table before the City-Spurs game last season:

4th City played 35 - points 62 - gd +21
5th Liverpool played 36 - points 58 - gd +18
6th Spurs played 35 - points 56 - gd +7

We needed one win from our final 3 games. We won all 3.

I just havent seen you on the Spurs board that is all.

Hard luck Ripleys btw . I guess I always saw you guys as a benchmark to see what an achievement it was for us to qualify in our first season. However I would be happy with beating Bayern 2-0 as they are a top top side!

But you only made certain after Crouch's own goal didn't you? Stop trying to escape the issue. I have always said that own goals are pure luck for the other team and say nothing for the form of that team. Blackburn beat Arsenal by two own goals and a deflection, well that's rubbish form for Blackburn isn't it? It was rubbish form for you to clinch qualification by an own goal. It would have been better had you scored with one of your own players then you could have taken FULL credit for qualification and proved by your own efforts that you were good enough for the CL. As it stood you weren't because it was Crouch who did it for you. It's a bit like cheating at an exam. If you cheat to pass for a certain college or whatever when you arrive there the subjects are too hard for you. Just like the CL for you. The EL is your level.

Cheers Edin. There's no taking away from Spurs' performance in the CL last season. You have every right to feel proud about that...

...Unless qualifying from the group stages is easy, thus meaning all the banter we're getting tonight is fully justified, and also meaning that Spurs didn't really achieve that much in last season's competition

posted on 7/12/11

Lol, how some fullbacks bent over for Bale last season you would expect the group stages to be easy!

No Edin I was on once yesterday or the day before. I posted on one of Messiah's threads in August that we'd go on an unbeaten run almost straight away and we have. The result against this lot was a one off because we were unsettled by the Modric saga. A lot ridiculed me when I said that Chelsea would go on a run of bad form after a defeat and bingo. I made two very accurate forecasts and I was ridiculed so farewell the Spurs board and the site. I thought I'd come back for the enjoyment of City not qualifying............... as I predicted.

--------------------

Even without that own goal, a nil-nil result against Spurs would have been enough. For with two games remaining, Spurs would have then been 6 points behind us (with a much inferior goal-differrence). And before we even played again Liverpool lost, meaning that they wouldn't have been able to catch us either.

So Crouch's goal actually made no difference to us finishing in the top four.

In fact, it transpired that had Crouch not scored his og, it wouldn't have even made any difference to us finishing 3rd.

Edin I thought it was because the "Young Boys" were bending over for you last season that got you INTO the group stages!!

Forza Roberto

Ah those Young Boys. They're useless at keeping clean sheets!

Thank Crouch? Thank Cavani. Without him I would not be able to do this:

But had you lost to Spurs as you had many times in previous recent seasons you might have lost the last two through nerves or whatever. All this is ifs yes but you could still have ended up 5th had you lost all three and Spurs won all three. But it's history now as is your CL campaign. be interesting to see how your bunch of girl's blouses and prima donnas reacts to this.

Yes it is.

And if Crouch hadn't scored his og, we still would have finished 3rd.

Not if Spurs had won all three and you had lost all three. Crouch did it for you. It was Crouch who made certain of it. The crunch match as it turned out was again you v us and it was Crouch. Your front line wasn't good enough to beat us in that match. You needed a Spurs man to score for you and clinch FOR CERTAIN the CL. You did not know at that time that you would win the last two matches. Burnley beat us the season before after we clinched the CL after beating you,and it was Crouch who did it for us. Sorry.

posted on 7/12/11

Yes they did bend over for us which was good for us.

Dawn I think it wasnt so much your predictions it was the gloating from it that annoyed spurs fans.

posted on 7/12/11

Edin, had they been recognized I wouldn't have had to have "gloated." I wasn't gloating, I was repeating just to try and be taken seriously and that's all. Why say somebody was when she was right? Is it because I'm female that somehow hurt male pride and ego?

posted on 7/12/11

Wrong is the word I missed out, sorry.

posted on 7/12/11

I didnt know you were female for ages tbh, I think it is more the fact that we all make predictions and like you we all get some wrong and some right. Just some of your predictions appear to have been rubbed into the face of others.

Does that mean with only 2 EPL teams thru to the knock out stages, Englands co-efficient will mean only 3 teams will quailfy next season? Even more important THFC maintain their current posistion!
