better squad

Spurs don't have a better head to head record against us.

Spurs think because most of their squad is full British players that it makes them automatically better than our international superstars.

Arsenal easily have the better squad. I can see why pundits/fans have been impressed by Spurs but I'm amused every time they say how 'spurs have a great squad.'

Redknapp sold a lot of 'squad' players in the last window, likes of Jenas, Crouch, Hutton, Bentley and there are more.....

Spurs have a good team but not a strong squad. Only 'good' players on the bench are Defore and Sandro.

Alan Smith said himself we have a better squad.

As a neutral (Utd fan), there's not much difference in the strengths of the squads, but I do feel that Spurs actually have the better first choice 11. This season is the first time that I actually feel that Spurs will finish above Arsenal - of course that does not mean it will happen, but I think most fans can accept that there is a genuine chance that it could happen.

Arsenal are no stronger than last season, and with Fabregas and Nasri gone maybe weaker, whereas the addition of Parker and a rejuvenated Adebayor has helped Spurs greatly. It goes without saying that Arsenal are heavily reliant on RVP and he is the standout player (almost similar to us with Cantona when we beat Newcastle to the title) whereas Spurs seem to have a number of key players - Modric, Adebayor, VDV, Bale, Parker, so perhaps they can cope better if one or two of them goes missing.

Just finally I have noticed that whilst Arsenal still play attractive football, they do seem to knuckle down a bit more - perhaps having Mertesacker and Vermallen as a strong defensive unit helps with that whereas Spurs are probably the most attractive team to watch this season, but perhaps lack even more than Arsenal those dogfighting qualities.

Spursking

Who cares about what he thinks? Do you honestly believe you have a better striker than Van Persie? Do you honestly believe your "keeper" is better than ours? Do you honestly believe that any of your defenders are on the level of Vermaelen & Koscielny? Or that your full-backs are better than ours? Are that your midfield and wingers are better than ours?

The great one

Yes.

Really? Then your more deluded than i thought.

You would be 12th without van persie.

Who's scoring your goals if he gets injured?

Shock horror isn't it? That our striker scores most of our goals

Arsene Wenger.

I don't think it's shocking. I mean it doesn't really matter if he's scoring all your goals, you're winning. But you should consider other options if anything does happen to him.

I disagree. In the midfield, we are perhaps a little less creative. However, there is no distracting furore regarding players wanting to leave, and defensively we are stronger, with Vermaelen back in force and Mertesacker added. We are more dangerous offensively too, with Gervinho troubling defences with his running and RVP really finding his form.

We had an awful start, but I have never made allowances for Spurs finishing above us and I'm not going to be starting now.

We have a better squad than spurs.

It's not even debatable.

Well it is debatable if one of your own legends thinks so. Just face it..

Much of Spurs great form comes from their very strong midfield. Now that aspect in particular you cannot really compare with Arsenal given we play with 3 proper midfielders and they play with 5. I'd class Walcott/Gervinho as strikers/forwards rather than wingers like Bale/Lennon.

As for strikers i'd say Arsenal just edge it but we both play completely different systems so comparison isn't easy.

Defence? We're rarely able to play our 1st team defence due to injuries but i think our defence is underrated. Any defence that is able to restrict Barcelona to a single goal is worth some plaudits. Tottenhams defence seems more suited to the Premiership, there's good height and speed but can be vulnerable in Europe judging by the amount of goals they conceded in the CL. Conversely Arsenal are more suited to defending in the CL compared to the PL. Our defenders are more technical, intelligent but not the most physically competitive.

As for goalkeepers Brad Friedel has always had the benefit of playing in very defensive teams (bar Spurs) so his job is made easier but he appears to still be in his peak and is extremely reliable. Szczesny is almost half his age and shows incredible maturity for his age who can only go from strength to strength despite playing behind a sometimes shoddy defence. I'd rather have Szczesny.
