Agree a great 3 points.
But, I can't understand why Ferry & Flint were not picked to start.
Surely Connell has to get a run in the side now.

Apparently Flint had been ill over Christmas but not sure why Ferry didn't start. Paolo seems quite happy to continue to use Risser when most of us would definitely prefer Ferry. Thought Magera had another below par game and I would like to see Connell and Murray up front and bring Benson on to get him game time and hopefully he will get his first of many goals for Swindon. I thought when Wimbledon came to us a few weeks back they looked a decent side who definitely tried to pass the ball around on the deck so I'm expecting another tough game but again think we will get the three points to hopefully take us above Shrewsbury into forth spot.
A happy new year to all the regulars.

Haven't posted for a while but I do read the comments.

Firstly, Happy New Year to All

I don't know about fellow posters but it has been a frustrating few months, not because of the results, but because we have had very few home games. Looking forward to this week with the match against the Wombles today and the Cup game on Saturday.

Hoping for another clean sheet again today which will almost certainly mean another 3 points.

It will be interesting to see how Benson performs today. Hopefully he will either be the 15 goal striker we have been looking for or he will be the catalyst for one of the current strikers to find their scoring boots.

The signing of Wes permanently is certainly a huge boost and hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later. I wonder if he will sign on the pitch today ! what a great start to the New Year that would be.

Looking forward to next Saturday in particular, I booked the birthday package for my Wife's 50th (it was what she wanted) for the original Shrewsbury fixture. The club have honoured our booking and to have the chance to be behind the scenes for the Club's biggest game for a while is really exciting.

We need to take it one game at a time from now on and not worry too much about catching the top three too soon. There is half a season left to do the catching and if we can keep up our form of the last 12 games it will happen. Three points today will be the perfect start

Happy New Year all.

Totally agree with Notts about today's line up and also with Oxon about staying on the leading pack's shoulders and not worrying about getting into the top three, it will happen if we keep our form. Looking at January's fixtures points from the league games are paramount, three today would give us 6 out of 9 for the holiday period which was what I was hoping for and keep us nicely in position. The Wigan game is a bonus and as long as we give them a game I won't be too disappointed to see us go out, we don't want too many commitments. Getting to the JPT final would be a great thing for the club financially and for the fans, but again it's not the main priority in my opinion.

It's a great time to be a Town fan, the bonding between players, fans and management is as good as I can remember in almost forty years.

Oxon,
I hope that you & your missus really enjoy next Saturday.
2 years ago, my present was a funded trip to see us at Fulham.
I did hint that I might want to go to the Wigan game, but presents were already bought. I got what I always wanted but couldn't afford - 2 tortoise hatchlings, & they ain't cheap!
No more money in the family coffers for football! But my heart is with you all watching.

Thanks Red, we'll give a shout for you.

Good result on Monday, took a while to break them down but it could easily have been 5 or 6 at the end.

Connell and Murray showed glimpses of being a good pairing but would need to play together more often to get a real understanding going, several times Murray didn’t read the play but I guess that comes with experience. Murray also struggled a bit because we tried to play too many balls in the air in the first half, not east playing against a 6ft 3in defender when you are knee high to a grasshopper. Second half we played more balls to feet which helped both Strikers.

Like the look of Benson, very quick, strong and made some excellent runs. Possibly should have scored at least one of his one-on-one’s with the keeper but the keeper did well both times and it may have been down to a lack of match practise.

Thought Gabi did well for the goal, I love seeing wingers run at the defence, get to the bye line and cut the ball back, it must be the hardest play to defend against. He also gave us a two-pronged attack, too often IMO we depend on the right for our attacks to the extent that we sometimes actually forfeit decent positions to do an about turn to play the ball across the back line to Ritchie/Ferry/Caddis on the right. Probably down to Da Vita playing out of his natural position and his drifting infield which leaves Kennedy with little or no outlet.

However, a good team performance and three more points closer to the ultimate goal.
