Jones is the best young defender in the country, without a doubt.
We'd be blind not to admit it, he still had a mare last night. Stewart Downing is also one of the best left wingers in the country, he is also having a mare this season.
---------------
I actually like the look of England's wings when it's an in form Downing and an in form Young
I would love nothing more than to make a wise comment about Phil Jone's mistake lastnight or Man Utd but think he is outstanding player and wish we would have bought him.
I just wish he would have done it at 0-0, the game was already lost so other than causing him to blush it made no odds to the outcome of the match.
URM
Me too, and I think Bent would work well in the middle with Rooney behind him. Gerrard and Barry in midfield with Cole - Jones - Smalling - Richards at the back.
Hart in goal obviously.

Players at the age of 22 are still young.
--------------------------------------
Agreed but he still has 3 years on Jones
Personally I think Jones will be an absolute beast of a player by the time he reaches 22.

Spot on
You don't have to be 19 to be young in football or has something changed??

Point is, central defence is a position where experience is everything. I remember watching Smalling at Fulham and he had potential, but was making the same mistakes Jones is now, if not worse.
I reckon in 3 years time Jones will be a very good centre back.
I still remember the influx of articles from the Merseyside faithful criticising Kenny for not snapping up Jones early before we got to him. Now what happened?
-------------------------
I still remember Man Utd fans rated Henderson and said that they should buy him. Now what happened?

He's not even the best young CB at United
Smalling is much much better!!

Smalling is 22
Jones is 19
Remind me where Smalling was playing when he was 19?
It's like saying Fryars is not as good as Vidic
..................
Exactly.
Is this all Liverpool fans are left with berating a 19 year old for not being as good as Vidic.
Oh how far the mighty have fallen.
Especially in recent weeks.

Barry would be nowhere near my England team. Stevie G I'd keep around if he get's back to where he was a couple of seasons ago. He's one of those players who inspires players around him ala Beckham. Bent does not do it for me. I'd put Welbeck and Sturridge on the pitch before him.
Jones and Smalling arn't ready as a pair for England yet in my opinion. I'd keep Cahill in there with Terry for now and Richards should be comfortably England's number 1 RB. Hart and Cole are no brainers
Barry would be nowhere near my England team
................
Mine neither. Nor Milner.
and Richards should be comfortably England's number 1 RB.

I have been more impressed with Kyle Walker at Spurs. Actually, I would very much like SAF to sign him. RB really is a position we need to upgrade on.

I still think Rafael can make it there if his legs genuinly arn;t made of glass. Both the twins are still raw positionally but they are proper United players for me. Work their socks off and have no problems getting stuck in if they need to. (Height is the only problem for me) Smalling plays well there too but he is Rio's natural successor at CB so playing him at RB is just a fill in.
Left back needs upgrading as much for me too. Evra is not the player he was and for Fabio, paste what I wrote about Rafael
Macca
That is the problem with the Twins. They are good young players, but both are very injury prone.

Yeah, they have been so far but that can change
I worry is Clevs is the same too.
They could be taller too but stature isn't a must at FB. Nev wasn't/isn't the tallest but he had the heart of a lion which is something I see in the twins
Surprised SAF did not start Raf last night.
We would have been much better balanced with Valencia and Nani on the wings. Park just does not do much anymore.
Has Rafael got injured once again?
Vidicschin (U3584)
The 'Rafael injury prone' argument is more of a myth than anything else. His injuries have been down to bumps and knocks as oppose to continuous muscle strain. Fabio, on the other hand, it can be argued has more of a problem.
Rafael is excellent in my opinion. Rarely puts a foot wrong and positionally very good. Much better than Smalling and Jones there. I cringed when I seen Valencia at right back and Park on the wing last night. It's a waste of talent and both Rafael and Valencia's behalf.
Play Rafael at right back week in week out, and we will see a marked improvement both defensively and offensively.
talking about good young players. Why hasnt fergie given pogba and morrison moe of a run out.

They are still injuries that make him miss more games than he plays. Thus the label of being injury prone, because he is very injury prone.

"talking about good young players. Why hasnt fergie given pogba and morrison moe of a run out."
Dont know, he dosent seem to have much faith in them at the moment.
Morrison is obviously a tricky one to fit in due to the fact he is more of a luxury player - he isnt going to get much game time whilst Rooney, Nani and co. are fit.
The situation with Pogba is strange though. Looking back at the Blackburn game, we had Rafa starting in midfield and Pogba on the bench. I had to ask myself, is Rafael really a better central midfielder than Pogba at this moment in time? If so, how much hope is there for him?
