It's the sun. That is explanation enough
It's Ashley putting a price tag on him to get as much as he can for him, the same as he will do for Ba. The bloke is a very astute businessman who is just looking to make a profit on as many players as he can. Some Newc and some bury their heads in the sand. Luckily for Newc they have a brilliant scout who gets them good players dirt cheap so Ashley can continue to do this.
meant to say some newc fans see this and some bury their heads in the sand

This. Every player has their price - whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant.
Obviously the Sun have no idea whether it's £15 mil or £150 mil, but if the right offer came in, we'd sell.
I don't think he's put a price on anyone. Why would he? Can't start an auction etc that way. Carroll was never set an asking price of £35m. Either way we all know club's policy now is pretty much what we've done this summer and it's worked this year. Can never build a squad like that though!
"Carroll was never set an asking price of £35m. "
Two weeks before we sold Carroll, Redknapp got asked whether he was still in for him. He said he couldn't afford him. To be specific: "You are talking £30million to 40million." Pretty spot on considering!
Ashley has a minimum price for every player, he wouldn't tell anyone it, otherwise they wouldn't bid any higher, but he has a price for sure.
Would you sell Krul for £20 mil?
