I still think we need to give him time.
Saying that though,he is a forward, not a striker, and forwards tend to get better with age.
Also, I would still like to see us go for a striker this January window, whether Carroll is doing well or not.
I still can't believe he hasn't worked out for you guys, he was great when he played for us and I thought once he settled in at Liverpool he'd be sure to get even better.
Football is a weird old game...
We never play to his strengths, he wins the flick ons only to find no1 is withing 30 yards of him.
He makes runs into the box only for the wide man to pass it backwards
He has not been living up to his own standards and has had issues BUT he will never fit into KK's stle of football.
Which annoys me so much because he is the clown who bought him. Sort it out Kenny.
Carroll is an embarrassment to the game of professional football.

With all due respect I think you are being a bit kind to Andy, for the first chance he did ok but I think the defender was at fault, it also wasn't a bad effort and the keeper did well but if it were someone like say Aguero you would of put money on him scoring from there.
There was one time when Carroll was running down the right, he looked to run past Savic again, he didn't get past him then kind of scuffed it, overran it and it ended up off the pitch, this sums him up of me.
I have yet to see one decent all round performance since he signed - I expected so much more and he's falling short, if it wasn't for the money paid he would be nowhere near the first team. Ngog was as effective as Andy has been up to now

Suarez has long spells where he's completley out of the game for the same reason, but no-one gets on his back for it.
================
When Suarez does get it up front, he keeps it well. When Carroll gets it the ball just bounces off him!!
Last night, unfortunately Carroll's first touch was a tackle.
Hour had no service in the second half, but his allround game was severely lacking.
As a neutral, I thought that there were some things he did ok last night and some things he did not so well.
His ball control made Theo Robinson's look Messi-like in comparison, and Theo can trap a bag of cement further than most can kick a ball.
It actually really dawned on me last night what an epic failure this probably is. I was playing the 'he's 22 and improving' card until now.
But to pay 35m for a player of his ability is actually quite disturbing. Yes you can say he's not the finished article but for that money you'd expect something a lot closer to the finished article. Like Got Better says play to his strengths or get rid....
I think it's safe to say, his strengths are in a 4-4-2. Are we going to play like that?
Would this suit Carroll?

I think this was the sort of system he was bought for, however with him under-performing, we have played Suarez up on his own, which for me, doesn't work.

For the majority of home games the above is fine. Kenny has changed his formations to suit the opposition which I have been impressed with.
From a neutral . Carrol was a panic buy because your hand was forced due to the departure of torres, All the big clubs have made big money mistakes in the transfer market so it's not just unique to kenny, it was a massive gamble on a lad who had nearly one good season at newcastle but you must cut your losses here, the lad will never repay that 35m, sell and move on.
The panc buy thing may be right but it also annoys me as he was injured when we signed him and barely played last season, if we would of waited till summer he would of cost probably not far off half the price.
I don't care about any of the off field allegations as long as he is doing it on the pitch but when he isn't and then you see pictures of him asleep in a club you have to wonder about how seriously he is taking it?
I don't think we should set the team up to suit him at the detriment of others and I don't think he has the footballing nouse to adapt - flashes like the goal against Oldham are not good enough IMO
OMG... i agree with Cpt Spaulding
I don't think we were playing a high enough line for him last night, which meant he spent all night lumbering around after their back four.
He's best when he's bullying centre backs, and as Alan Shearer pointed out last night, he should have spent the night stuck to Savic.
I think Stewart Downing is not helping. He's not providing an outlet at all. Likewise Henderson, who got himself into some good positions, but didn't possess the composure to come up with a decent final ball.
I can't for the life of me see why Maxi isn't starting.
Oh dear, I have to agree with Cpt Spaulding too.
I honestly don't know why Carroll has lost his aggressive instincts in front of goal. As was mentioned earlier, he seems to have no interest at times. Maybe he is missing Newcastle and deep down really didn't want to leave in the first place.
Perhaps he is, and always will be, a Geordie lad at heart. Nothing wrong with that, it's the same as Gerrard will always be a Liverpool player at heart.
