It is possible that Billy Sharp is holding out for a Premiership club, although I recall it took Nugent a while to decide for certain in the summer and nobody's complaining about him.
It could also be Sharp's agent trying to push up his wages.
Don't panic! According to Stringer, Sharp will be signing within the next 24 hours - 2 days ago...
To be fair Dung, I think there were a few people concerned at how long it was taking Nugent to sign, but obviously that hasn't affected his commitment to the club.
But the difference is that Nugent's negotiations occured in the summer rather than in between games which may possible cause more unrest int he squad.
There are some parallels here.
The only real difference is that Doncaster have been forced to accept our offer whereas Bristol City had no such compunction. It’s interesting to see that Maynard has still not secured his move to the PL despite him probably being available far cheaper than the reported £6m we were prepared to pay.
I can’t help feeling that recruitment will be very difficult this transfer window. Our current league position hardly makes us a big draw for players with aspirations of playing in the premier League. A few shrewd loan signings might well be the way to go.
I imagine Maynard will be discussing contracts for next season with clubs and wait for the summer to go on a free and get a huge signing on fee, and obviously a tidy amount for his agent.
I wonder if Sharp did go to Fulham, a bid for Johnson on loan may be a possibility, although is he any better than we have?
The more I think about it, the more I wonder if we should just concentrating on wingers. Townsend look very good for Leeds, I'm gutted we couldn't get him in.
Billy Sharp has been training as normal this morning and is expected to be playing for Donny against Cardiff on Saturday.
These aren't the usual actions of a player due for a transfer because of risk of injury etc.
Okay Extra, thanks for the info.
Shakespeare has said today we are still in negotiations with him, so guess you're right DM, and it is just a matter of being patient to see how it pans out.
it took ages to complete the deal for pearson as well! Who says it has anything to do with the people signing! Maybe its that our end are cack at negotiating!
No one seems to have noticed that Sharp is also reported to have had a much improved offer to stay where he is. A player with even a shred of loyalty would take at least a couple of days to think about that, and really should not be getting flak for doing so.
Well stringer has replied to someone on Twitter saying he doesn't think Sharp will sign today - so I'm a little more hopeful now
